real life

Even lesbians have dysfunctional relationships. Don’t they?

Sometimes, when you're a straight woman, you can imagine that life would be so much simpler being a lesbian. So many relationships frustrations seem to come down to The Great Man Woman Divide…

We communicate differently. Our bathroom time is spent differently (in front of mirror fiddling around vs on toilet). On a basic level, we wear different clothes and have different genitals.

Am I the only one who has ever wondered if it's all just much simpler for lesbians? No disrespect intended obviously. Remember that Sex & The City episode where Samantha gives lesbianism a red hot go and discovers than in some ways, the things that make two women the same (the talking, oh the talking) can actually be quite irritating.

In case you're wondering why I've posted this photo of 'celesbian' Ruby Rose (who, just quietly I think is 100 shades of hot) and the two other chicks well, it's from a story in the Daily Telelgraph which says…

IN THE latest lesbian love triangle to hit Sydney, little-known model
Lyndsey Anne has broken up with her former Australia's Next Top Model
contestant girlfriend in order to hook up with ubiquitous TV
personality Ruby Rose.

As Confidential revealed in June, Chadwicks model Anne has been
dating towering shop assistant Lola Van Vorst for the past few months.

But the redhead recently dumped Van Vorst to start seeing Rose. The
love triangle converged at the Bonds Spring/Summer 2009 Fashion Launch
on Wednesday night, when Anne told us that her "girlfriend" was DJ-ing.

Behind
the decks was, of course, MTV's Rose and a source at the party said it
was an "intense" break-up between her and Van Vorst.

If only they could all get along, there would be some really fantastic wardrobe options right there….

Have you ever wished you were a lesbian? I mean, not just when looking at photos of [insert your hot female celebrity of choice here]?

I must admit I idealise lesbiansim a bit less after being inadvertently (and unwillingly!) exposed to the SCARY dysfunction that is Lindsay Lohan and Samantha Ronson via their Twitter banter (well, Lindsay's banter – Samantha steadfastly ignores her). It seems relationships are all the same in terms of the issues you face and the spectrum of healthy vs dysfunctional. Regardless of gender.

If you ARE a lesbian or have been a lesbian at any stage, please enlighten us as to whether it's hard work dating another woman or easier than dating a guy. Bisexuals? You are in a unique position to advise on this so please, speak up [remember, you can comment anonymously by logging out if you have a profile and choosing the 'guest' option – same if you don't have a profile, just without the logging out bit].

For the straights, do you ever think about it?
