This book idea is completely shit. And the author wants your help to fund it.

It’s a serious crowdfunding campaign, though you’d be forgiven for thinking ‘you’ve got to be shitting me’.

A 24-year-old Sydney woman wants to publish a coffee table book about poo. Yep. A photographic journey of every single kid she has dropped off to the pool in a single year.

But she cannot do it alone. Vanessa Shultz has launched a Kickstarter campaign and hopes to raise $1000 to reach her shit book dream. The aspiring photographer says her ‘fine art’ project “A Year Of Faeces“, started on 1 January this year, when she took the first photo of her poo. She’s taken another photo every day since.

“It started out as a Christmas gift idea for family members I didn’t really care for, but I began to think about it. NO ONE HAS EVER DONE THIS,” Vanessa says in her campaign statement.

The coffee table book promises to be “like no other” and will be varied in its artistic content. The author’s changing diet, including going from vegan to a full-meat diet, and including juices, will alter the consistency of the subject matter.

The risk is of course, that the author/creator will not be able to ‘perform’ everyday.  She assures investors that if this problem arises, she will not hesitate in using laxatives.

For those of you asking:

“WHY VANESSA, WHY WHY WHY WOULD YOU DO THIS?”

Well, she ultimately wants the book published and is secretly hoping that she is literally sitting on a goldmine.

Having dumped the idea on a few publishers, Vanessa says the feedback so far has not been great.  She hopes the crowdfunding campaign will make a splash among like minded creatives.

Please stop: The ‘Poo Song’ is a real, official song that exists to stop people defecating in public.

“This shit is artistic,” she says. “Trying to get the right angle and props is actually very time consuming.”

“And yes, I have definitely gagged for time to time.”

That is TOO MUCH INFORMATION.  But then arguably, so is the book.

A lot of human beings believe we have a book ‘inside us’. We just don’t take it quite as literally as dear Vanessa.

Possible working title.
