Clare Bowen says Nashville is not over yet.

Nashville, the musical dramedy that filled our heads with country music and an inappropriate attraction to Connie Britton’s hair has come to an end.

Or has it?

According to Nashville star Clare Bowen, who played shy and whimsical songbird Scarlett O’Connor on the show, the door has not closed just quite yet.

“We were all so shocked,” said Bowen when she dropped by the Mamamia Podcast Studio. “We were all set to go for season five.

“These things happen though when a new boss comes into the studio.

“Scarlet is a little part of my heart and I’ll always be there, I’m not going to leave Nashville.”

“I just bought my first home there with my fiancé and I’m holding on to hope.”

If there’s anyone who knows what it’s like to work through the tough times, it’s Bowen.

The struggling actress from Sydney, who admitted she had never really sung into a microphone before landing on the Nashville set, was about to quite the cruel world of showbiz and head back home to her parent’s home until Cate Blanchett stepped in and encouraged her to go to Los Angeles.

Listen to Laura Brodnik talk to Clare Bowen on a special episode of The Binge, and find out if Nashville is really coming back.
