Golden Globes hosts announced

NBC funny ladies and former Saturday Night Live cast members Tina Fey and Amy Poehler have been tapped to cohost the 2013 Golden Globes.

Emceeing the January 13 awards show will reunite the 30 Rock creator with her dear friend, Parks and Recreation star Poehler. Usually when the former cohosts of "Weekend Update" appear together, they are either back on SNL or at an awards show — so it's fitting the Baby Mama stars will be back together behind the mic at one of Hollywood's biggest annual ceremonies.

"The unparalleled comedic timing of Tina and Amy will surely have viewers wanting to tune in to see them in action," said Hollywood Foreign Press Association president Dr. Aida Takla-O'Reilly in the Monday announcement.

NBC, which will broadcast the Golden Globes, clearly hopes to capitalise on their two stars, both of whom grew to fame on the Peacock Network.

"Having both Tina Fey and Amy Poehler on board to host this year's festivities is a major coup," said Paul Telegdy, president of alternative and late night programming for NBC Entertainment. "Tina and Amy have a proven chemistry and comedic timing from their many years together on SNL to their successful co-starring roles in Baby Mama."

Fey and Poehler’s talents have taken them to the Golden Globes already. Fey, 42, is a two-time Golden Globe winner for 30 Rock, while Poehler, 41, received her first nomination last year for her work on Parks and Rec.

The tag-teaming hosts take over from outspoken British comedian Ricky Gervais, who famously tore celebs apart with his zingers three years in a row. Gervais had previously asserted he would not host again. But that's just fine with us because he's leaving the show in very capable hands.
