'The Gilmore Girls' reboot title has been announced.

Anticipation for the triumphant return of Gilmore Girls is fever pitch, and on Thursday fans were given yet another exciting teaser – the revival season now has a name.

Appearing on the Ellen Show, everyone’s dream mum Lorelei Gilmore (AKA actress Lauren Graham) opened up about returning to the show’s sets after so many years, moving to Netflix, and what fans of the show can expect.

“I’m here to tell you the title,” Graham told the talk show host excitedly. “It’s four 90 minute episodes, and they’re winter, spring, summer and fall, so the show is called Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life.

And with that, the audience screamed with delight.

Having wrapped eight years ago after seven season, the show, which also starred the likes of Alexis Bledel and Melissa McCarthy, John Hamm, Jane Lynch and Adam Brody, Gilmore Girls announced it would be returning to Netflix for one more season in 2015.

Since then, super fans have been impatiently waiting for any news available on the show's imminent return. To date, rumours have included a potential wedding, the arrival of a baby, and a host of ex-boyfriends returning to the screen.

Graham, who "almost done" filming the next instalment of the show, came running onto the daytime talk show stage barefoot with her heels in hand, waving wildly to the audience.

Miss you Rory, can't wait to see you again.

Moments into her chat, the actress explained that returning to show has "been the most incredible experience," before admitting, "I cry trying to talk about it because it's just been so... I feel so lucky to get to do it," Graham said, before continuing, "but it's also been so bizarre."

Returning to the original sets eight years on has proved quite the time warp for the actress, as it has with all stars.

McCarthy is now a hugely successful movie star and set to star in the Ghostbusters reboot, and Alexis Bledel has married and had a baby of her own.

Now the real question is whether or her character Rory will also be a mum in the new season.
