Bachelorette Georgia Love faces devastating news ahead of the show's finale.

This week ought to be one of the happiest of Bachelorette Georgia Love’s life. But with just days until the finale of the programme, the 28-year-old’s mother has been admitted to palliative care.

Belinda Love was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer shortly before her journalist daughter began filming on the popular dating show.

When questioned about today’s devastating news, a Network Ten spokesperson told The Daily Telegraph:

“Georgia and her family are going through a very difficult time dealing with serious family health issues. They are focusing on supporting each other during this hard time and we kindly ask you to respect their privacy.”

Georgia opened up about her mother's illness in the first episode of the season, in which she revealed that doctors discovered the large tumour while treating Belinda for abdominal pain.

The 28-year-old said the diagnosis was a major catalyst for her decision to participate in the show.

“I’m doing this because I have realised that family and love is what is important at the end of the day," she said on the show.

"It really scares me that my mum has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. This came out of nowhere, not only for her but for all of us. Overnight finding out that my mum was sick totally changed my perspective on life.”

Georgia was scheduled to make numerous media appearances in the lead-up to Thursday night's final episode, but it's unclear if she will be up to participating.
