Love is dead: our favourite First Dates stars are not actually dating in real life.

Sometimes, watching First Dates leaves us curled up on the floor, in the foetal position, crying at the level of awkwardness we just sat through.

Other times, it makes us believe in true love again.

Like last night, when we met cute-as-a-button 20-year-olds Grace and George and were informed they were still dating post-show.

This is a LIE.

Well, it turns out, that's all a lie.

After watching the show last night, Grace herself dashed our hopes and dreams by clarifying her current relationship status.

"One of the weirder things I've done but definitely a really great story to tell the grandkids one day," she wrote on Instagram.

"Shouts to George for being great even tho we are sadly and definitely not in a relationship soz (sic)."

Wow, Grace. Way to break our hearts.

And it's not just us.

A lot of fans who were clearly besotted by the awkward chit-chat of the makeup artist and her sailor friend are about to be crushed when they learn the awful truth:

Sigh.

At least there's enough episode of First Dates on tonight to give us hope that maybe, MAYBE true love still exists.
