I came late to the Instagram party. Like every form of social media since MySpace, I greeted its proliferation with profound weariness. REALLY? Do I have to learn ANOTHER THING? But like the FOMO *sheep I am, I got there in the end and now? Damn, can I work a filter. My preferred filter is Lo-Fi but I’m quite partial to Rise.
[* FOMO = Fear Of Missing Out]
So check it:
Entertainment Weekly reports:
CollegeHumor’s parody video of Nickelback’s “Photograph,” called “Look at This Instagram,” pokes fun at the commonplace and predictable filter treatments “photographers” use to transform food, finger nails, feet, fireworks, and other f words into art.
“Started out as a lemon tart, then my phone went and made it art,” bellows the singer in his best Chad Kroeger voice.”
There is so much I love about this video that I am even prepared to overlook the use of a Nickelback song. THAT much.
Someone who I’m sure could relate is Miranda Kerr – who is a big Instagrammer and uses it along with her photogenic gifts to share one helluva Insti stream (note: ‘to Insti’ is now a verb. I’m sorry but it is. Don’t blame me I’m just the messenger). Take a look:

@mirandakerrverified One third in and loving Just Kids #pattismith #legend
Are you big into Instagram? Come on, did you see yourself a little bit in that video? Wait, are you photographing YOUR SHOES RIGHT NOW….?

Haha, love it. Lo-fi is my favourite too!
Love Instagram but some celebrities (Melissa Hoyer I’m looking at you) are so fanatical with it, I wonder whether they actual enjoy where they are and who they are with or are they too busy Instagramming? Just one photo is enough.

I was at my work Christmas party last week, and I got a message from a friend to tell me she liked my dress. Took me a while to catch on that people at the party were already uploading photos on to their myriad networking sites. We’d only been there 15 minutes at that stage! It lends itself to a question – if something happens, and it doesn’t get photographed, did it really happen at all?? I really need to get with it

I lost my phone during a night of debauchery and was without all my apps for a week recently. Every time I ate a meal, I had to just… eat it! No instagramming, no tweeting, no flitering it to make it look ten times more delicious than it actually was thereby making my friends jealous… and the question was: If I eat the meal, but don’t instagram it, did I really eat the meal??
Some insta-fans would say no. My waistline says otherwise.

Oh god, this is amazing… and SO spot on. I am slightly addicted to instagram. The filters make everything look better.

I can it can be fun but some people definitely go overboard.
I went away with a group of friends recently who I had not seen for ages. We had a fun weekend but I was really shocked at just how much they were obsessed with their phones including Instagram. I was very close to being a Mum and saying “no phones while eating” etc! I came away thinking we had gone to some lovely bars and restaurants etc but everything had to be photographed, uploaded, checked for comments etc and it really sucked the life out of the weekend.

I was reading an article today about how the internet, in particular social media, is a great source of narcisist supply. It is becoming the narcissists drug of choice.

I haven’t gotten into Instagram, although I’ve thought of it at times, just because anyone I would follow usually posts the pics on Facebook or twitter anyway so I can still see them, and I don’t take a lot of photos.

I saw this video the other day and laughed hysterically as it is soooo true and I am guilty of nearly every thing they sing about. Still love Instagram and will continue posting pics of clouds and food with gay abandon.

That is hilarious because it’s so true!!! IG is so inane and narcissistic and addictive! I love it and I hate it!
