Falling in love with Joel Madden was never something that I had ever thought about, truth be known I wasn’t really that sure who he was. I knew something about Good Charlotte and the fact that he had a twin brother called Benji, but I never knew how emotional he was. And how kind. Guess I never knew that about Seal or Keith Urban either. Delta I suspected was kind but last night was the night I fell in love with Joel.
I’m talking of course about The Voice the new reality show from Channel Nine that last night had 2.5 million viewers spellbound.

Karise and Darren
The concept of The Voice is pretty simple. Four ‘superstar musician coaches’ (Delta Goodrem, Seal, Keith Urban and Joel Madden) select teams of twelve artists based solely on hearing that artist perform – there are no visual cues.
During the auditions the coaches sit with their backs to the artist, if a coach likes what they hear, they push a button to select the artist for their team of competitors, (they’ll need to select 12 acts in total). As they push the button their chair swivels so that they are facing the artists they have selected. If more than one coach selects the artist, it gets really interesting because instead of the coach judging the artist, the artist needs to choose from the coaches, judging which one he/she thinks will serve them best.
It makes for pretty gripping, emotional TV. Especially when they have acts like this:
So far, it’s only been two nights, Keith Urban, Seal and Joel Madden have taken on four artists. Delta just one.
And you know what’s pretty damn great? You can watch the show with your whole family and there is very little chance that your child will want to start messing, er I mean cooking in your kitchen.
Did you watch The Voice?

What a load of rubbish. Force fed stars who more than likely will fade into obscurity when the next batch of sensational, amazing, talented, 2 minute superstars arrive to boost network profits. Sure everyone can sing but they are being used then sent to pasture once past their use by dates. Which is why I never support this abuse of naive artists by watching this rubbish.

I totally get the “Delta Bashing”. On here. It’s not quite “tall poppy syndrome” as her career has been “quiet” of late. My 9yo daughter is so preoccupied by Deltas “posing” in the chair and finds it so fake and contrived. I can’t understand why someone as tall as her is wearing heels as high as those that she clearly can’t walk in! Her logies performance was vocally not great and she seemed so caught we up in her appearComplete Sleeperrance and stance. She’s a stunning woman who needs to relax!
loading...
I agree with everyone who has been critical of Delta. I find her incredibly annoying, fake and completely contrived. Hope they re-think her as a judge when they do a second series.
loading...
lets all break out the violins for Delta .. poor poor Delta, like she is the only one… i love the show , but she ruins it for me, Tina Arena or Deborah Conway or even Chrissie Amphlett i would love to see judge , but Delta makes it all about herself and has to go !!
loading...
They’re not picking the strong rock voices. Seal’s picking up the good soul ones, but anyone really rocking gets let go. Did they even try to get a rock judge? Joel Madden doesn’t count, Good Charlotte were a good little pop/punk band, but not real.
loading...
Yeah I agree, although technically joel would be able to pick a good rock singer he’s able to sell it to the crowd, he’s picking the ones he can tell have good stage presence, the more pop singers. I think they should ditch delta in favour for someone better, hell how amazing would it be to get a true rock singer like barnsey or joe cocker on there!
loading...
Well I just cried like a baby! Haha. Never thought I’d be into this show but I watched it the other night and really enjoyed it. Love Joel Madden too!
loading...
I LOVE THE VOICE. I normally scoff at reality but somehow got addicted to. am now also in love with Keith and Joel… who knew I ill had a bit of ‘teen’ in me?
loading...
I liked Joel too! I know little about his music career – but enjoyed his liveliness, expressiveness and enthusiasm…
loading...
I’m falling in love with Keith Urban on this show…who knew that this guy who married Nicole – and very soon went into rehab afterwards…would be so damn lovely.
loading...
I agree! Keith seems really genuine, kind-hearted and articulate
I don’t know much about him but I really enjoy listening to him. And watching him
loading...
I like it but it’s not a patch on the American show The Sing Off.
loading...
Oh I love the sing off! Such an amazing show.
loading...
How lucky is Delta to have Matt Hetherington? She will be able to learn so much from him
loading...
Learn so much from him. Nasty! this is a woman who has 9 Aria awards, 3world music awards the longest. Australian album ever at number one, 3 number 1 albums 10 number 1singles 3 number 1dvd,s the greatest Australan DVD sales ever. written songs for Celine Dion, Michael Bolton and many others. Yep I’m betting Mat will really be thinking how He can teach Delta…..Not
loading...
I doubt Matt is thinking that and didn’t suggest he was. Am not taking anything away from Delta either. Just sayin’ that not many have any idea of what Matt’s achievements are. Am sure that Delta will be very happy to have Matt in her team, especially when she becomes aware of his successes, career and abilities

Number 1 ticketholder of the Delta Fan Club?
loading...
Despite materialistic success we can all learn something from someone regardless of where they seemingly sit in the social hierarchy. Yes Delta has cowritten some great songs, hopefully she will become more musically cultivated soon, step away from being a children’s entertainer (after all she is quite old now). Some singing lessons would be a great help for her and then she probably wouldn’t have to do endorsements for milk – fail! She can no longer rely on milking (pun intended) her easily treatable cancer that she had (past tense). Cosmetically speaking, a little lipo on the cankles wouldn’t go astray and some further orthodontic treatment to correct her deviated midline – who did the veneers? Lol. I don’t know what’s with the hair extensions, lash extensions and excessive foundation. As she is already quite masculine looking this only reinforces a transvestite appearance (not that there is anything wrong with that). It is no wonder there are so many comments about her projecting a false image! Just some food for thought! Kisses!
loading...
I love it! I have always loved Delta, but before The Voice Seal was just Heidi’s ex husband who sang a few great songs, Keith was just Nicole’s husband and Joel was the scary looking guy from Good Charlotte. But I feel like I know who they are now and I love them !
loading...
Great comment!
loading...
GO MATT HETHERINGTON!!!!!!!!
loading...
I have to stop watching. Seal’s vortex of charisma is sucking me in bad. Finally worked out what Heidi saw in him. Loving Keith and Joel too. Delta is so beautiful but meh. And desperately in love with young Rachael. Divine.
loading...
agreed!
i never really saw anything in Seal, he cracked out a smile, and i was hooked!
loading...
Omg. I haven’t watched the show, but I know that Seal is heaven. Manly, manly heaven.
loading...
“vortex of charisma”
“manly manly heaven”
Love it!!!
loading...
‘Vortex of charisma!’ Definitely!
loading...
I can’t stand Delta on this show. Has anyone noticed how she keeps constantly interrupting the other coaches? UGH!
loading...
I agree. Delta is constantly interrupting and she keeps saying “I love you Seal, but ….” or similar. Am I the only one to sense some animosity between her and Seal?
loading...
Seal is so nasty and you desperate woman can not even see it. You are so jealous of Delta you crucify her to make yourselves feel better. The glass sealing and woman not having success is because of other woman. You tear each other down at every opportunity.Pathetic
loading...
Wow David, I’m not even sure where to go with that, but even in my role as a ‘desperate woman’ I don’t have to justify your comments with an answer.
Have a nice life David.
loading...
David is quite clearly someone with a massive ‘thing’ for Delta who think she needs him to defend her.
loading...
get a life david- you are creepy…..
loading...
You watch this show wipe Master Chef off the record books. Three very cool and nice lads, with a very sensitive and lovely Delta. Cannot possibly lose, I am hooked already.
loading...
Totally crushing on both Keith and Joel. Such cool cats. Keith can call me baby anytime!
loading...
Was anyone else blown away by the judge’s group performance of ‘Crazy’?
loading...
I just came here to say something along those lines!!! Who else teared up when the little boy cried ‘cos his dad didn’t get picked?
I love this show so much. Usually I hate reality shows but this one has got me hooked.
loading...
I totally cried when the little boy cried!!!
loading...
Love, Love Loved it !!!. Ive watched it back on youtube several times.
loading...
Women in the public eye are open to scrutiny so much more than men. Delta is such a lovely, warm-hearted person who genuinely cares about the contestants. You could tell her spirit was shattered when contestant after contestant failed to chose her. I’ll never forget meeting her in person at a shopping centre signing several years back & she stayed for hours until EVERYONE lining up had her autograph. Save your harsh criticism for people who deserve it, but Delta is not one of them.
loading...
Exactly- we complain about not having good role models for girls but when we have one we shoot her down.
I like Delta just as she is. What is wrong with a princess anyway
loading...
Thankyou. I am always telling my 11 and 13yo daughters to turn ‘that rubbish off’ when they’re watching TV because the kids shows are full of terrible role models. My 11yo asked me last night if I could explain to her if Delta was a good role model for young girls. Absolutely. She is lovely, positive, clean living, she hasnt visibly disfigured her body to look ‘cool’, she isnt afraid to look feminine and she has real talent and works hard. And most importantly has obviously done her piano practise. Miss 11 did hers this morning too! Thanks Delta.
loading...
apparently it’s the way the show was edited – someone at the filming said Delta had 5 people in her team by the end of the first day!
loading...
If you’ve watched all three eps so far, looks like they were all filmed together and split to fit the time slots. The judges are all wearing the same clothes in all 3 shows. By the end of the third ep Delta had 5 contestants.
Must say, loving it so far!!
loading...
oh yes Joel!!! Yes pleeeassseeee!!
loading...
I’m definitely hooked on this show. I love all of the judges except Seal. He seems over confident and arrogant. I don’t get the Delta bashing on here. She’s proving to be humble and caring and she’s definitely more talented than the average popstar. I do get frustrated that the judges often seem tempted to press their buttons, but then they all hesitate, and some good talent ends up being rejected!
loading...
Like all of them. Delta…good Keith…good Seal …good Joel….Goooooood!!
loading...
No Way, I dont get the arrogance at all.
loading...
Seal is not arrogant! He scored one of the most down to earth contestant in Karise Eden. I think he is a very experienced head in the music industry and understand how to communicate and cater to the needs of individuals. He knows when to pull the trigger and when to be nice.
On the other hand I feel younger every time I listen to Delta. I now understand why she dated Mark Philippoussis. I love her songs and her caring, sensitive and loving personality. However, when she sounds like Alyson Hannigan on American Pie, it is hardly reassuring. Putting myself in the contestants’ shoes I would want someone who is composed, mature and confident. Hence, I would choose Seal.
loading...
I confess. I only watched this because the girls in the office could talk about nothing else. Watercooler advertising rules, ok?
I actually loved it. Not only were the voices generally great – I was astounded by the girl who took on ‘Wuthering Heights’ – but I loved the whole effect their singing had on the judges. Alright, they’re being paid for this gig, but they seemed genuinely impressed and moved by what they heard.
My pick of the judges? Seal. He brings so much insight and intuition to his choices – they’re lucky to have him.
loading...
I absolutely love the concept of the show. It always makes me laugh when people instantly cry that the show is ‘rigged’ after their favourite is not chosen.
Also, in relation to Delta, as much as everyone states that Delta is contrived and over the top on the show, she performed at Westfield today and stayed for over 4 hours to sign autographs. She was lovely and made the comment that “if you guys have the patience to wait this long for an autograph from me, I’m going to stay and keep signing for as long as necessary”. She just genuinely seems like a lovely person.
loading...
that’s nice to hear about Delta… because honestly, on tv she has this ‘holier than thou’ aura which I can’t stand. I remember seeing her on a snippet of Idol or something like that a few years ago and she was so damn rude to the contestants and up herself. My husband and I couldn’t believe it.
She is a total goddess in the looks department though
loading...
I keep hearing similar things that in person she is actually quite lovely – perhaps she is self-conscious on television?
loading...
Didn’t see it the first night, looked last night to see what it was like. Only three singers did anything for me, the one who sang the Keith Urban song (even though I don’t like that music), the young girl at the end who sand “La Vie En Rose” & the woman who sang “I Put A Spell On You” & she was the only one who didn’t get through. Am I the only one, but was Guy Sebastion’s brother flat? I thought he was far & away the worst of the night.
loading...
I liked the I Put a Spell on You lady too
loading...
I think I am in love with Keith Urban. What a spunk.
Please everyone be a bit nicer tro Delta. She is a gorgeous talented musician. Perhaps she just needs to grow into the role
loading...
I hate talent shows but admit to watching this one last night and a bit of Sunday night’s episode. Joel and Keith are gorgeous!
I am not a Delta fan at all… I think she is the weak link of the show and I’m pretty sure I won’t continue watching it, mainly because of her.
loading...
Really well don’t watch it .It’s a great show Delta and all the coaches are amazing. The Delta bashing here is another sign that the tall poppy syndrome s alive and well in Aus. she seems like a sweet caring person.I love that she shows emotion and kindness and gives Seal back all that he deserves. Hardly a weak link more like the green eyed monster problem.
loading...
Some of the comments here are extremely sad and yes the tall poppy syndrome is very much alive and well in this country especially if you are a young attractive woman. Delta maybe trying too hard but she is obviously a caring beautiful girl who is feeling the pressure especially from a man (Seal) who knows how to play the game. Rachael was lovely with a beautiful voice and as an 18 year old maybe just maybe Delta felt about her lost years as an 18 year old fighting cancer. We should applaud her empathy and understanding and not pull this girl down maybe you should have listened to what Rachael had to say….about how Delta was her inspiration. The show is amazing love it but do not like the bullying that goes on in social media.
loading...
Did anyone else notice Delta’s use of “me” phrases? What she was saying to the contestants was all “me me me” or “I I I”. Seal, however, was using “you” phrases. And subsequently was chosen as coach by more of the contestants. It’s not the mesmerising eyes or outstretched hands, he’s selling himself as a good proposition by using persuasive language.
Delta could learn something from that. It’s not all about you!
loading...
I agree. Its a good lesson in how to be convincing and win people over with subtle word choice. He would be hard to say no to. But he’s had more life experience than Delta and would have honed his communication skills more.
loading...
No question that Seal is the salesman on the show
loading...
The judges seem to have an unspoken thing going on. With their hand hovering above their button they seem to look at each other and say “you push it” “no, you push it”. It seems really contrived to me.
Keith Urban seems very sincere as does Joel Madden, the other two, are really annoying. Delta seems very inexperienced (I know she’s had a lot of hits) but I feel a little sorry for the singers she will be mentoring.
loading...
I started to watch on the first night, it sounded like something a little different, but no. The same old recaps, as if we’re all stupid, and besides it takes up time .. and the incessant non-stop screaming. This just drives me crrrraaaazy. It’s infiltrated every live show in the world – am I the only one being driven mad by all this shrieking??
Suffice to say I didn’t last very long.
loading...
I’ve watched bits of The Voice and I’m quite impressed. I usually hate the hype around all Australian reality shows, and rarely watch TV at all, but I like the concept of The Voice – particularly the blind audition phase and the fact that the artist gets to choose the judge. There’s a lot of re-hashing but that’s when I tune out and do other things while waiting for the next singer.
Some of the reactions from the judges (especially Delta) are over the top – this is obviously done on purpose! I don’t understand why watchers don’t realise this? The judges act how you want them to (exaggerated 1000 times) or the opposite to cause a drama.
And if I hear Delta or someone else use the word “amazing” one more time, I think I’ll scream! It has to be the most overused word of the decade…
loading...
Loving the voice – especially as the judges are all accomplished artists – not sexist radio DJ pigs like another talent contest on TV that shall remain nameless
Really loving Keith – always thought he was gorgeous but his sense of humour is fab – especially to the guy that sang his song “great song choice” I remember reading something where Nicole had said she encouraged him to do this as she wanted his country to get to know him better and she was sure we would fall in love with him – how right she was!!
Delta feeling the pressure last night and shouldnt have made the “easy” comment to Guy’s brother – she is still gorgeous and is obviously picky with who she wants which is good.At the end of the day I am sure that what the blind contestant said is very true for alot of young girls – she has inspired a whole bunch of neighbours fans to sing so good on her – I think we forget how very big she was 10 years ago and how many hits she has had – lets not be a tall poppy nation and knock her though.
Seal though seems very cocky for a guy that has really only had a couple of hits – liked him alot on the first show but not so much last night – love the vibe between him and the other judges though (Dont look into his eyes – watch the outstretched hand etc – very fuuny)
Joel is a revelation to me – have teenagers so used to hearing their music but he is funny and warm and supportive to the contestants – love him!!!
loading...
I hear you about Keith. What a revelation. Have a big girly crush now.
loading...
Correction – Seal is a massive international superstar who has sold something like 20 million albums, not some cocky upstart with a couple of hits.
loading...
agree with anon. I hate it when people make uneducated claims about something… Seal has been widely successful since 1994– just because YOU dont know about him, doesnt mean that he’s had “only” a few hits. He’s had many and very many successful albums. Successful sold out shows… He’s very experienced and is full of integrity as an artist and also a person….
loading...
I won his latest album Commitment in a little competition last year (best of a bad lot), expected it to be a bit crap and it’s really great!
loading...
I’ve heard lots in general about how people should not be tall poppies and stop dissing Delta. Occasionally, you just don’t warm to people whether you know them personally or they are public figures.. there is something you find irritating and you either can, or can not quite put your finger what it is about them. I think the notion that if you don’t like Delta your suffering from tall poppy syndrom is a bit over the top.
loading...
Ugh, as soon as they found out she was blind they all did that really patronising, pitying head tilt and started calling her “special” and talking to her like she was a real victim. Hideous.
loading...
Yep, it was a bit cringe- inducing. But she had a great voice, so hopefully she’ll survive all that rubbish.
loading...
I Love the show, but I am wondering if they actually DIDN’T know she was blind? I wonder if they haven’t seen the contestants or at least heard them previously? I wonder if the choices have already been made? Some good ones did not get on. But perhaps I am being a touch cynical because I tend to believe that nothing is left to chance when it comes to these shows and reality TV as well. Nonetheless I like it and I will watch it because I enjoy the talent and the judges.
loading...
I thought they would ave had to know she was blind – she was led on by a woman syaing ‘walk here ” etc and all the judges were just sitting there- surely that was heard by them 9and meant to be) or else they could have led the singer out without speaking ?
loading...
I believe somewhere like Bulgaria had a blind contestant on its version of The Voice, who went on to win. I wouldn’t be surprised if an enterprising local producer decided to look for a blind girl who could sing to milk yet more emotion…having said that am enjoying the show and all that chair spinning…’I want you on my team’ is a much more positive catch phrase than ‘you are the weakest link’, ‘it’s time for you to go’ etc..if this ushers in a kindler, gentler version of reality shows then I’m all for it.
loading...
Karise Eden’s voice is freaking magic. I love her. Rachael was amazing as well, my boyfriend had tears in his eyes when she sang.
I love Joel, he reminds me of Jarrod from Storage Wars! I was a little shocked at Delta’s comments against Seal when Chris Sebastien sang. “This is my country!” I think she was getting desperate for a contestant!
And then she pulled out the guilt card when she brought up her public battle with cancer. Yes it was horrible she went through it, but she overcame it and the moment wasn’t about her, it was about Rachael.
Love the show though, and I am cheering for Karise and Rachael.
loading...
I was at the taping of the Voice Delta was not desperate Seal was horrid and said some very nasty things that were edited out obviously for greatest reaction. Delta did not walk out because she did not get the guy on her team but because of Seal being so arrogant and rude. I thought she did the right thing and took a moment. The my country thing was because he dissed Australia.
loading...
I knew it! I though there was something a bit NQR about him
loading...
I had tears before I realised Rachel was blind (I watched Rachel’s singing clip this morning online – i don’t watch tv but everyone was posting about it on FB so I googled it. Funnily no posts mentioned she was blind!). I just thought they lead everyone on stage and as this was the first I’d scene of the Voice and I didn’t really pay attention to her getting onto stage. Then I heard the voice, started welling up with tears and then when she said she couldn’t see I lost it!
I don’t like Delta but it’s fine that she cried. I just thought her comments were too much about her. She would have looked classier if she didn’t say much because everyone knows what she’s been through. Rach was always going to pick Delta.
loading...
I’m obsessed with the voice!! Obsessed!!!!!!!!
I love seal .. definitely wouldn’t kick him out of bed
loading...
i quite enjoyed last night’s show! and Rachael’s voice is stunning. I’m bummed I missed Sunday night’s as I didn’t realise a guy I used to work with was picked by Keith Urban! Exciting!
Love Joel. He’s like a puppy!
loading...
All the performance videos are on the voice website so you can go back and check out your old colleague.
loading...
i watched the first episode to see what it was about but not really into singing or talent shows…i kinda only wanted to perve on seal haha…wont be following the craze tho!
loading...
Rumours started circulating a few months ago that delta and seal have been secretly seeing each other…looked more like a lovers tiff those tears from delta last night possibly
loading...
I thought it was between her and Joel….
loading...
But Joel is married to Nicole Richie, and they make such a cute family! hate to think someone is/would come between them.
loading...
My husband and I both said we could see chemistry between the two of them
loading...
Well Seal does love tall youthful blonde beautiful women!!!!
loading...
Well as someone who cannot sing or dance for the life of me and SO wishes they could. Im enjoying the show. I think Joel is really sweet and funny as heck. I love the way they all try to outdo each other in an entertaining way. For me who doesnt have a musical bone in my body, if someone gives me goosebumps when i hear their voice then i think they are awesome.!!! Id pick them if it was me:) As for who picks who and who steals who, its up to the artist to chose who they think will be the best choice for them to further their career. Im not too bothered by Deltas tears or whether or not she is a princess, i am just enjoying the show for the entertainment factor and i have to say Joel, Seal,Keith and Delta are making me laugh and get involved with my family as we discuss who we feel they should pick or who would be good for them to work with:)
All in all a good show that im enjoying. If i stop enjoying it them i shall stop watching it…simple as that.
loading...
I am such a talent show hater. Can’t stand Idol, DWTS or AGT etc but must say I have watched a bit of The Voice (admittedly while channel surfing through ads). I was bummed to miss the blind girl last night though – did mean to watch that part…
I too agree with below comments that the judges are definitely making the show. Always had a soft spot for Delta but now have a huge crush on Joel and Keith (who previously I never thought twice about). However Seal I find to be very arrogant and fake (and I loved him before). Weird how shows like this can change your opinion so quickly on people – or maybe it just shows I shouldn’t by judging people I don’t know and never will
loading...
I love this show too! It’s not nasty, which is so refreshing. And I love how the contestants get to choose their mentor. It instils more dignity in the contestants – in all the other shows the contestants grovel to the judges, and here it is the other way around. It’s great.
I understand why people are finding Delta a bit annoying – she is trying too hard – but I still love her. And even though she has struggled to find the success she once had, she is insanely talented, and she is not just a singer, she is a musician as well. And she is a lovely person. I just don’t think she has the confidence that the others have to make the “sales pitch”.
If you need a reminder of her talent, this is her singing Burn for You, beautifully. I could listen to this all day. http://youtu.be/Mbruv9Oh2nI
loading...
Ugh, Delta! Bursting into tears and running off the stage when Guy Sebastian’s brother didn’t pick her was such a drama queen move. I cannot stand her. I don’t even understand why she’s there. When was her last hit? If I was a new artist, I’d want advice from someone who had had sustained success internationally.
By those standards though, I don’t think any of the judges are too impressive. Seal’s last big hit was in 1994, Keith Urban still hasn’t achieved much mainstream success and it’s been a while since I’ve heard anyone talk about Good Charlotte (and Joel is not much of a singer anyway).
I’m not particularly enamoured with Rachel’s voice but that’s neither here nor there. Clearly, many are. But she is kidding herself if she doesn’t want to be known as “the blind girl who sings”. That is exactly what she’ll be known as, because the producers and Channel 9 will eat that up with a spoon. They’re already using “I don’t know if any of you turned around because I’m blind” on the ads. These shows love that kind of thing.
loading...
I had thought Delta hadn’t done much internationally too, but then I took a look at Wiki. It seems I was wrong. It says…
“As of the late 2000s or early 2010s Goodrem has achieved eight No. 1 Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA)singles and multiple UK Top 10 singles. Her debut album, 2003′s Innocent Eyes, made her one of Australia’s highest-selling female recording artists, spending 29 weeks at No. 1,[21] selling well over a million copies in Australia and another 3.5 million internationally, debuting at No. 2 in the UK and breaking various records in the process.[65]
In 2004 Goodrem released Mistaken Identity, her second studio album which entered the ARIA charts at No. 1 spawning two No. 1 singles and quickly gained multi-platinum status. In 2005, Goodrem embarked on The Visualise Tour, her debut concert tour of Australia, combining songs from both Innocent Eyes and Mistaken Identity.
Goodrem released her third studio album, self-titled Delta, on 20 October 2007 to yet another number-one debut, gaining multi-platinum status within the first few months of release. Goodrem also shifted attention to different markets, releasing the album in the Far East and the USA. In January 2009, Goodrem embarked on the Believe Again Tour of Australia to support her third studio album.[44] She has sold approximately 5 million albums, and 6 million combined albums and singles worldwide.”
loading...
Isn’t Keith Urban the number one Country recording artist in America? I could be wrong but nevertheless he IS massive in America which is amazing considering he is Australian. And apparently Seal is a producer as well?
loading...
Kieth is massive in America, and won a few awards over there too, so all judges have high intentional reputations.
I love Good Charlotte!
loading...
Keith urban is a country artist. Why would he need to have achieved ‘mainstream’ success? He’s one of the best is his field, isn’t that enough credential….
loading...
Ugh, what an unnecessary, and mean spirited comment!
I love how you think the judges are not impressive, when all 4 have achieved the sort of success in their singing careers only the tiniest of fraction of people will ever achieve in their lifetime.
Seriously, what were you expecting from this TV show? Lady Gaga, Madonna and Justin Beiber?
loading...
Just because you haven’t heard of them lately doesn’t mean they haven’t been doing stuff successfully. I have never heard Keith Urban (or Delta, come to that) on any radio stations I listen to, but I know that he is hugely successful, has won Grammy awards, does sell-out tours across the States, as do Good Charlotte.
Delta’s got a song out at the moment, I don’t know much about Seal but he wouldn’t still be kicking around musically just off the back of having hits back in the day and having been married to Heidi Klum.
I do kind of agree about the “I don’t know who turned around cause I’m blind” thing. Much like the girl who complained about being tits and arse in a girl group and wanting to be known for more than her looks and body, then walking on to the stage in hotpants, skyscraper heels and a tight booby top. Um….
loading...
I agree she would no from the noise the buzzer makes when they hit the button anyway!!
loading...
Well done channel 9!! it’s about time they had a show which was valid, compelling and creative in opposition to all the channel 7 reality shows!
loading...
What is with all the hate for Delta. I like her!
loading...
yeah i actually really enjoyed it…mainly cos i was atching and following twitter comments as well which made it hilarious!
Did anyone notice that Keith seems to ‘smell’ something a lot? he did that ‘whats that smell face” the whole way through! Joel is awesome but i am very glad he wears his hat….not sure whats going on with the reverse top deck hair style!?!?! Delta was a desperado and it was so awkward to watch…she was trying WAY too hard! I hope she just relaxes a bit and doesnt try to be ‘funny’ anymore! and Seal…as if the contenstants are going to choose Delta when Seal is sitting there…what an amazing exp to work with him and his nails are freaking awesome and I am painting my 4 year olds nails fluro yello asap! he normally likes blue or black, but i think yellow could work

Loving this show too! I’ve always thought Seal was cool and he is, but Keith Urban! Didn’t get him until now, he is sexy! Lucky Nicole! And Joel Madden is so nice and cool and humble, just seems a great guy, once again, lucky Nicole! Delta though is a bit annoying, I think she’s trying too hard. However she is one very beautiful lady to look at, insanely pretty.

I’ve always liked Keith Urban. I read a fantastic article a few years ago about when he toured to Australia and one of his guitars broke. He and a few mates went to Billy Hyde in the Valley and tried a few guitars. Keith noticed a teenager playing about with different guitar floor pedals & after buying his guitar, instructed the shop owner to bill him for anything the kid decided to buy. What a great guy!

I remember reading that article too! What a lovely thing to do – Must’ve given that kid such a high!

Didn’t watch it but saw an excerpt this morning. I don’t know about their talent as singers but as actors they’re very good. Watching Delta ‘emote’ though. Oh dear. Lots more to come I’m afraid.

She drives me nuts! Their comments are hilarious – Delta crying “inspirational tears”, it’s so over the top. I have a feeling it’s only going to get worse – next week she’ll be crying tears of inspiration and rainbow unicorns…

I enjoy a talent show, but I’ve gotta admit The Voice is a little painful.
I recorded it and watched it in about half the time. I just wanted to hear the singers. There was too much preamble and post-amble.
Australia’s Got Talent has a much better vibe than The Voice. I absolutely loved it last year (couldn’t believe how much talent was out there!) and it was a priority over The Voice last night, as they overlapped.
I’ll keep watching it, as I enjoy keeping up with these kinds of things, but I’m not in love yet.

I’m a reality show junkie (it’s part of my job – really) and while I liekd the concept I didn’t expect this to be too different from other shows. And while I remain unconvinced the dynamic won’t change after the blind auditions, I have to admit I’m hooked.
They’ve induced tears several times and I care about some of the people dammit. Even a contestant who DIDN’T get picked up (the very talented Melanie Dyer) is still in my thoughts.
Of course the outrageous ratings of the first night meant we wer edeluged by excessive ads the second evening but that’s the price of success. Perhaps we just need to record it so we can fast forward through the ads.

I’m glad you mentioned that – Melanie Dyer is ridiculously gorgeous and talented, I really can’t believe she didn’t even make it past the first post! Fools!

I watched bits and pieces of the US version and when they went through their whole ‘pool’ of contestants, if there was still places left on a judges team, then some got the chance to perform again (but the judges didn’t know it was the same person that they hadn’t chosen first time around) so I’m hoping if that’s the case, that Melanie may get the chance to get through. I’m just not sure how many people they have invited to the blind auditions.

After seeing the closing stages of the first night, I decided that “The Voice” wasn’t for me.
Much ado was made of the Monday night episode. A blind person will sing ! And she will reduce Delta Goodrem to tears because she sounds so good.
A quiet word to the producers…..there have been many outstanding vocal performers who have also been blind ! This is not a new concept. Obviously having not seen last night’s show I have no idea if the singer was born blind or whether she lost her sight as the result of an accident or if indeed Delta Goodrem needed to regather herself was due to the story told or the performance that was given

She has an illness which will eventually cause total blindness, she’s currently at about 10%. She turns 18 today. It was a pretty heart wrenching story although she doesn’t seem to be at all self-pitying, and she sang beautifully.
Delta had to regather herself over a different singer altogether – she was not picked by a singer who is a friend of her’s which she took personally.

Thanks Jules for clearing this up for me. The way that the material was cut together at the end of the first show had me put one and one together, thinking that Delta’s breakdown was because of this particular girl’s story/performance.

Yeah, the ads have really over hyped the show – they’re actually quite annoying (the ads, that is). It’s a bloody entertaining show though!!
Meanwhile I’m still grappling with the fact that I’m wasting time at work to not only read and comment on a reality TV show article, but also to correct misstatements of fact in other people’s comments too… who am I?

Lol, on that note, she turned 18 the day after the audition whenever that was filmed
