We had a brief visit from an old friend of ours last night, former Mamamia Managing Editor and Offspring Tragic, Lana Hirschowitz. She shared her list of 7 things that might have stopped you watching the final episode of Offspring last night…
The heater is on, the snacks are planned and the tissue box is full. I am ready for tonight’s final episode of Offspring.
I won’t deny that I am a little nervous, I actually have a pit in my stomach when I think about the journey Nina and I have been on and where we are going now. In my mind Nina is a very real person and in my mind she’s also happens one of my close friends. Yes, I have become a little Offspring obsessed.
I’ve been known to cry (a lot), laugh ridiculously loudly and also threaten to leave.
Why would you leave a TV show you may well ask (given that I am an audience member rather than say a cast member in which case leaving would actually make a difference). I became pretty heavily invested in some of the relationships and plot lines, heavily invested enough that I actually decided that I would be giving notice if any of the following 7 things happened:
1. If Mick kisses or otherwise gets involved with Rosanna in an intimate nature I will cover my eyes for hours. Possibly hide under my doona to make it all go away. Every time I watch a scene that involves these two I sit very, very close to the edge of my seat. I have been known to grind my teeth.
2. If Billie falls pregnant and miscarries her baby – I may never switch the TV on again. No matter what the show is. I know that they do love a bit of drama on the show and they are not beyond going down this path but I really, really hope they don’t.
3. If Patrick actually leaves the hospital and in leaving the hospital leaves the show I am leaving my TV off forever
That’s only 3 I hear you shout (well type loudly) which brings me to another reason I have a pit in my stomach tonight.
I am watching Offspring from my new home. For those of you that remember me from Mamamia – Hi, I miss you! For those of you who don’t know me I was Managing Editor of Mamamia until a few weeks ago when I moved to a new home on the internet otherwise known as iVillage. It’s a bit weird living in this new home and saying goodbye to my favourite show at the same time so I am actually hijacking this post to invite you to come watch Offspring with me at my new home. And as an incentive you can read the rest of my list in my village – just click here.
Promise I’m not tricking you – I’m just welcoming you.

Offspring
What did you think of last night’s episode? Did it live up to all our high expectations or did it disappoint?Do you think there will be another season?

Yes- have to say if it was that early in the pregnancy you wouldn’t have seen much on the abdominal ultrasound, certainly not an embryo with a heartbeat! Dildocam (aka internal ultrasound) and I are well acquainted.
loading...
would have been a bit strange to watch then do an internal ultrasound though, dont u think?
loading...
Yes, it would have. Maybe they should have just left the ultrasound out.
loading...
Ah who cares, it’s tv. I thought it was a perfect ending!!
loading...
Oh good, It wasn’t just me! It’s either too early for a HPT (home pregnancy test) OR there’s an embyro with a heartbeat, it’s not possible to be both!
loading...
Patrick is back. Yay!!
loading...
I second that – absolutely love him!
loading...
I too have become Offspring obsessed!!! And I was really stressed last night and thinking about not watching anymore because I still just didn’t understand why Patrick and Nina broke up and all their interactions now make me want to hit one of them or both of them or just someone!!! So I was very relieved- even messaged my daughter on holidays in Thailand to tell her that all is right in the world.
loading...
I love the series.
Not a big TV watcher, but this one has me hooked!
loading...
I suspect that Offspring has been commissioned for 2 more seasons to prevent any uncertainty at the end of season 4, therefore is able to have a typical dramatic cliffhanger!!
loading...
Adam was far too nice and too sane – was never going to be a permanent character or love interest!
loading...
Just read online that both seasons 4 and 5 have now been commissioned. All together now…… YESSSS!!!
loading...
Oh Merinda! You are the bearer of the BESTEST news, well done you!
Where did you read this??
loading...
I just read it too! Nina and I are FB friends. Oh yes we are! She posted she’ll be back for at least 2 more seasons.
loading...
Woohoo!
loading...
According to the Offspring FB page there is going to be season4 and 5! Whoohoo!!!!
loading...
Am I the only one oh thinks the last bit was one of nina’s hallucinations? Pathology results don’t usually come at night and to a mobile phone. Hmmmm
loading...
Dr Noonan said he just checked his messages so it could have been earlier…
I loved the ending and if Mick and Rosanna get together I’ll throw something at the tv!!!
loading...
Noooo! Don’t say that. I really want Patrick and Nina to have their happy ever after.
loading...
I agree… it was like one of her daydream sequences lol all a bit TOO perfect but i’m happy they didn’t leave this series on a cliff hanger!
loading...
yeah kind of the same as a tummy ultrasound rather than an internal so early!
loading...
I had a tummy ultrasound to determine I was pregnant at 8 weeks. Wasn’t she about that far along? You can only see the heartbeat at that stage.
loading...
Thanks for bursting our bubble:(
loading...
I was thinking the same thing, too tidy and happy… I hope not, it will crush me. I dont care if they are not real people !
loading...
I didn’t even think of it turning out to be a daydream! There’s a good chance you may be right. But that would be very weak writing – ‘she woke up and it was all just a dream’ – that would be a massive cop out from the usually fantastic writers of this show. Everyone knows that using that trick is treating the audience with utter contempt. Please let it not be the case – please please please.
loading...
I am clearly going against the trend, but I don’t want to see another season! They were so happy last night – I’d just like to remember them all like that!
loading...
Zara’s tummy was awfully flat ( in her Arabian costume) for someone who just gave birth!
loading...
Even though it had only been 2 episodes in tv time, a few weeks were supposed to have passed. Plus, she gave birth at 29(?thereabouts) weeks, some people are barely even showing then.
And I can’t believe I just commented to explain a TV SHOW…..
loading...
I LOVED last nights episode!!!!!!
My 16 year old daughter and I never miss it. It’s just a little tragic that I’m so much more invested in the characters than she is. ” I’m never watching this show again if Patrick gets in his car and leaves”. I may or may not have yelled at the tv at one point. And i may have clapped and cheered when Jimmy and Zara kissed in the hallway too.
Dear God please let there be another season. My daughter will be devastated if there isn’t (me too!!!!!!!)
loading...
Great that Nina and Patrick finally had their ‘happy ever after’ moment. However, I find it highly improbable that a man would ever openly apologise (in front of everyone), say that he was the one in the wrong, that he had messed the woman around – I wish! I guess that’s what makes this show good – realism with a heavy dose of fantasy!
loading...
Imagine if Rosanna becomes a surrogate for Billie and Mick?
Or if Nina’s baby comes out and it is actually Adam’s and they did sleep together…
My husband admitted to finding Zara just a bit pretty last night – she is quite beautiful and it would be fun to see what comes up with them living at Jimmy’s mum’s house.
Oh please let there be a season 4!!
loading...
I realised last night l don’t need to watch Offspring and that’s okay.
I ended up watching Kids Behind Bars on ABC2 (can l say holy sh$t on that show). Was flicking to see what happened at the end of Offspring but you know – l’m not fussed on it….having watched it from the first series ….season two was the best.,…l don’;t get the Patrick thing…………l’m still on Dr Chris……….oh well and for me too many baby storylines……..
l guess it is called Offspring and Nina is an obstetrician, but still…….
loading...
Yep, I’m team Chris too, but came to the realisation that it is never going to happen between Nina and Chris.
loading...
Oh I so miss Dr Chris. He was gorgeous. When Nina and Patrick broke up, I got a bit happy thinking Dr Chris could come back.
loading...
I really struggled to decide which guy I would have chosen…both would have been nice:)
loading...
Look I am not fussy, Chris/Patrick – either one would suit ;P
loading...
I sat down with my homemade lasagna and glass of Shiraz – hubby was out partyin with his mates so house to myself (worked out well!!) and i just loved the show the ending was fab! im so happy it ended like that and really hope they get picked up for another season!!!!!! patrick is gorgeous!!! and i love Clegg he cracks me up!!!
i will miss my wednesday night viewing! i hope Purberty Blue replaces this timeslot!
loading...
I feel like I owe Patrick a personal apology. I strayed to Adam for one episode. I know, I know, I probably shouldn’t have bailed out so quickly, but I just felt so hurt after he dumped Nina that I sought solace in Adam. So my sincere apologies Patrick, I should have known better.
Gosh, I feel so much better now I got that off my chest!
loading...
I too had this same lapse in my love for Patrick…however I think it was heavily influenced by my memories of Adam as ‘Jacob Coote’ from Looking for Alibrandi.
loading...
Oh definitely heavily influenced by Jacob Coote…;)
loading...
Nup, Patrick was being a right pain the proverbial, and only came good in the end. No apologies required!
loading...
Adam looks like a skinny Ricky Gervais!
loading...
Did anyone notice that Mick and Rosanna went to Sydney to perform on the Circle?? ummm the Circle is filmed in Melbourne!!
loading...
YES!!! I did!
loading...
me too. caused me a lot of confusion and thinking after that, coming to the conclusion that it probably IS filmed in Sydney, because I remembered that Mia was recently on the Circle.
loading...
Patrick’s face at the end was perfection!
Matt Le Nevez is adorable.
Clegg is hilarious.
Asher has fast become one of my favourite actors.
I just LOVE this show!
loading...
Why isn’t Matt Le Nevez a superstar????? He’s delicious!!!
loading...
i’m with everyone here: love the show! Only one complain… IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN A MOVIE LENGHT FINALE!
loading...
I totally agree, it was too short. fabulous, but I would have loved more
loading...
YES!!!! It totally should have been.
loading...
But is she pregnant? After the blood in the shower and Nina’s assertion that the blood test could’ve been taken prior to her bleeding.
loading...
Its normal for spotting in the first few weeks of pregnancy.
also you could hear the heart beat when they where doing the ultra sound.
yay for Nina and Patrick
loading...
Implantation bleeding. I had it with all 3 a few days after AF was due.
loading...
I cannot describe my relief at last night’s episode. I was out until very late and even though I got home at 11.30 and had to get up early this morning, my bf and I watched it because I couldn’t go to bed without having seen what was going to happen!
Loved it. Loved the whole thing. I may have yelled at the tv a few times, cringed, gotten teary and laughed VERY loudly at Clegg with the bone saw… and then re-watched the ending and the beautiful expressions on Patrick’s face.
Relieved, happy and also crushed that it’s going to be so long until we get to see more of Nina and Patrick (please, they must do another season).
loading...
The ending was a little neat but I still LOVE this show. Last season’s finale was the best episode ever imo but this one came pretty close with the kiddie themed costume party and Dr Clegg reenacting The Texas Chainsaw Massacre on a pignata and Nina’s Passiona sculling. Congrats to the whole team that make this wonderful show!
loading...
As much as I loved last nights episode, it made me nervous.. Usually when a season ends in any series there are cliff hangers, questions left unanswered, etc.. everything ended a little to happily which makes me think there will be no season 4.. which could actually kill me!
loading...
Thank god for that happy ending! I feel so empty knowing that it was the last episode of this season (positive affirmations that season 4 will be filmed!)
Loved the Jimmy & Zara ending, the Mick & Billie ending, loved Phillip Noonan dancing in the Elvis costume, so happy that Alfie pulled through.
Nina and Patrick, what a perfect wrap up. Patrick’s face when they did the ultrasound, made me tear up! His dazzling smile at the very end… sigh….
The only thing that annoyed me about this season was there just wasn’t enough happy time between Nina & Patrick. It is just so good when they are together. That’s why there has to be a season 4. With no relationship angst! It would be hilarious to see Nina pregnant and as a mum. The writers need to channel her craziness into that area of her life now. We need to keep them happy as a couple, and not just to see more of Patrick’s big smile!
Oh, also need another season so that Billie is in it more. Forgiveness this time around seeing as Kat Stewart was a tad busy having her own baby!
loading...
I so LOVED the whole episode, but I just adored that part where Patrick heard their baby’s heartbeat and smiled. I was such a beautiful scene and felt painfully intimate, like we were actually witnessing someone’s most private moment. It also showed how much of an exceptional actor Matt Le Nevez is…
Gutted I won’t get my usual Wednesday Offspring fix, I may just have to buy the season and re watch!!
loading...
Philip Noonan dancing in the Elvis costume actually made me laugh out loud. I love his character in the show, i really believe that he is Nina’s father.
loading...
Last night’s episode delivered everything I wanted. And as much as I adore the show ADORE IT, if they don’t do another season, I’m okay.
I can see where everyone is at. And I’m happy.
SPOILER ALERT ****
And how good was it seeing Patrick’s face looking at the ultrasound?
loading...
I agree Lana, if any of those things happen, I too will give notice.
Loved reading this post! xoxoxoxoxoxoxox
loading...
I have never been so hooked on a television show. What a gorgeous ending and I cannot fathom how there won’t be a season 4. Loved every bit about the season finale – laughed and got teary and whilst my heart is with Nina and Patrick I really liked the Zara and Billy storyline.
loading...
if this show doesnt return I will be seriously devastated!!!
loading...
ME TOO! They will make another season… they’d be stupid not to.
loading...
I’m still smiling this morning… dreaming of Patrick… *sigh*. Nothing would have stopped me watching last night’s episode. Rumour has it (unconfirmed) that the show has been commissioned for a 4th season but if that is the end I can deal with that.
However I think we will get a season 4. The producers have said they always like to tie things up at the end of a season just in case and also because there is such a long space between seasons, a cliff hanger doesn’t really work for a show like this.
On an aside, has anyone else fallen completely in love with Jimmy in the last few episodes?
loading...
Yes!!!!!!!!! I love Jimmy!!!!!
loading...
Sorry ladies … but -
I read an interview (although I must admit it is about a year old – so things can change) where Matt Le Nevez said he had a girlfriend who was Texan, called Michelle.
Also – did you know he went to NIDA and lives in LA. No chance of running into him down the street then or at Woolworths, unless he’s in town filming.
Sometimes I wonder if the writers took inspiration from Pride and Prejudice – Patrick is quite “Darcy” at times. Brooding and distant.
loading...
Matt Le Nevez definately is single and currently lives in Melbourne as he just finished filming World Series Cricket. He did have a GF in the US…but no longer! He travels to the US but doesnt live there
loading...
Ooooh Amy – sounds like you may be ‘in the know’. I am curious – how do you know he’s a free agent? Or is that pretty well known info that I have managed to miss?! Now I am worried he may have his clothes ripped off somewhere in public! lol
On 6 June, Matt tweeted: “Au revoir Melbourne. Til next time. Will miss my friends, the coffee, the mighty @Richmond_FC but not the weather. X x” That was leaving town. Didn’t sound to me like he’d made Melb his home? World Series Cricket shoot has well & truly wrapped now. I’d be sure he’s flown the coop?
PS – wish there were more kissing scenes in Offspring – I want to analyse his technique so I can fantastise! lol
loading...
He lived in LA when he got the role. He still lives there but has returned for the two seasons filming and the Howzat series. Just google Matt le Nevez and there are a number of articles on it.
loading...
CC you are hilarious!
loading...
He is a little grey nomad with no fixed address
yes he is currently in LA, but doesnt live there. Has gone for a little while but will be back very soon to shoot the next Offspring Series. As for being a free agent, perhaps he may have picked up someone along the way somewhere, but i’m pretty sure he is single!
loading...
Hahaha, Amy. Glad someone else has done the google search for me. He’s seriously sexy, I hope I run into him in Fitzroy soon, althought I don’t know what i’d do with myself. Might fling myself at him!
loading...
Thank you Offspring writers for giving me exactly what I wanted tonight though didnt think it would happen! When Patrick walked back into the party I was holding my breath thinking “Oh please don’t let this be Nina’s imagination again”!! Loved the way everything wrapped up, please please let there be a next season
loading...
I had a moment when Martin came in with the bone saw when I thought OMG it was all a dream and Martin is going to hack them all to death!
loading...
Nothing could have stopped me watching tonight’s episode…..NOTHING!!

I love Asher (Nina)! I love Nina & Patrick together, I’m so glad they worked it out, and that she is pregnant afterall. Did you see the look on Patrick’s face in the very last few seconds, when they were watching the ultrasound and heard the baby’s heartbeat??? Soooooooooooooooo sweet!!!
And I’m glad Billie & Mick worked their shit out too! It’s nice to see a show finish a season on a happy note, instead of leaving you with some dramatic ending that drives you nuts waiting for the next season to start. lol
loading...
I agree with everything you’ve said.
But please, please: let it be a ‘normal’ pregnancy! At least we know who the father is (not normal for tv shows!). And then there’s the sudden discovery of hereditary problems or ….. I’m sure they’ll think of something to complicate the plot! Not sure I can take the stress!!
loading...
Or, you THINK you know who the father is…
loading...
I waitress most nights and had to work tonight, just finished watching it on the website. Oh my god! So, so good. I didn’t think I’d love it as much as last seasons finale but I did!
Nina and Patrick running through the hospital in those costumes! Just perfect! I’ll never look at a bottle of passiona again without getting butterflies in my tummy.
I will be absolutely devastated if it’s not picked up for a 4th season.
loading...
I’ve never seen Offspring. Sadly I think I might have missed the boat…
loading...
You could always buy/download the 3 series on iTunes and catch up before the next season starts.
loading...
I only started watching this season and am now a loyal and totally devoted fan with proclaimed undying eternal love. I am now going to download season one and two on itunes and cath up over the break in between. I’m moving to nyc so i’ll be watching it all on the net from now on. Such brilliant writing
loading...
Season 2 is amaaaaaaazing! Season 1 not so great, season 2 true love. Enjoy!
loading...
Except for: that was season 3 that ended last night.
loading...
Noooo! You haven’t missed the boat! I only started watching about a month ago, as I work on Wednesday nights and I catch it on the tv… (I don’t normally watch tv at home) and I got HOOKED!
I ordered the Season 1 and Season 2 dvds and I’m 4 eps into Season 1, I love it! Borrow/buy season 1 and see how you go! It’s awesome
loading...
You’ve gotta get into it. It’s such an amazing show. I live & hang out in the areas the show is filmed in (usually Fitzroy, North Fitzroy, Collingwood, Clifton Hill & Northcote), so I love playing spot the bar / restaurant / street.
Seriously though, it’s so worth a watch! All seasons are out now, so you dedicate a few chilly winter weekends hunkered dowm with a glass of wine and some seriously HOT doctors.
loading...
I might be alone in this, but I’d actually be pretty happy if it ended here. I’m not sure if I can get through Nina being mental about her pregnancy, and I really felt the writing wasn’t as funny this season. Too much drama, not enough comedy, not enough Billie!
loading...
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
loading...
i love the show but i couldnt agree more!
loading...
I feel the same. End Offspring right there… it would be perfection.
*** SPOILER ALERT ***
Billie and Mick are in a good place and understand one another. I don’t need to see their ‘journey’ and ups and downs to making their own baby or adopting one. We know Mick will have a more successful musical career now and not do much if any manual work anymore. We know his brother (great character!) flew to London to take a chance with the man he loved too.
Jimmy grew up and Zara defrosted. They are at the start of something new. Plus there’s little Alfie, who is safe and well now.
Geraldine is seeing Dr Phillip Noonan, and Darcy has made peace with that and that he is not the biological father of Nina.
Dr Martin Clegg and Cherie are highly likely to embark on a relationship on a new and deeper level, and perhaps marry or have a baby together, a sibling for Ray – I am happy to assume this and not see it for myself.
Like you, I don’t need to see Nina’s pregnancy unfold and any new challenges in the Nine/Patrick dynamic. It would have been a nice touch to have his sister (their relationship cheerleader) at the party last night, enjoying their reunion and baby news. Before he declared his love and commitment, Nina was bashing the piñata and had the last year of her life flash before her, worrying that (at 35) her life wasn’t where she thought it would be. Then she got her double happy ending moments later.
Any more would drag it out and spoil the show. Will she be happy? Will she find love? We already know. STOP now.
loading...
I agree 100% percent.
For me, a fan since the first episode, It was the perfect ending
Now all I need to do is the buy the entire 3 series on DVD so I can watch then all over again.
loading...
We’re talking Australian television here – when you’re onto a good thing, flog it to death (or when it jumps the shark, whichever comes first). So there was no way there wouldn’t be another series (or two, as it turns out).
Good, I love Offspring, but I’m a Dr Chris fan. Patrick is very wooden and I also never understood why they broke up. No satisfactory explanation whatsoever.
loading...
“I’m not sure if I can get through Nina being mental about her pregnancy”
This. Nina (and Geraldine) are my least favourite characters on the show. Billie’s crazy, but at least she’s ballsy and hilarious. Nina just annoys me, and I can’t imagine how bad she’s going to be whilst pregnant.
loading...
I dont know how you can say that the writing wasnt as funny this season.
Those episodes when she was drunk were the funniest thing I have ever seen on TV.
…the two shots of how Nina thought she looked dancing and then the reality shot
…hiding in the pot plant
Ive never laughed so much.
loading...
I agree!! the scene with Nina drunk and hiding behind the pot plant was the first I’d seen of offsprings. I downloaded the rest of the show and can’t believe it took me this long. I did get to enjoy the whole season 1 and 2 marathon in one weekend or so…
loading...
Agree with these hilarious moments- plus just about EVERYTHING Clegg has ever done, period. Almost cried with laughter on many occasions.
loading...
I thought that whole episode was a cracker, particularly when she woke up with Adam all confused. But overall I thought it was a bit silly this season, rather than clever like it should be.
Last night was really good, particularly when she was in labour and then they just said ‘oh, we all know this is a dream sequence!’
loading...
thank god- i was yelling at the TV after 55 minutes of the damn show- sounded like Lleyton Hewitt…. C’MON Patrick!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
can go to bed now with happy thoughts… but, an ultrasound? if you are that early you can’t pee on a stick and need a blood test, at a guess i’d think a transvaginal ultrasound would be necessary- but, would not make for pretty tv!!
loading...
well I don’t know how early Nina was, but you can actually detect pregnancy through a normal US(my own experience at 4.5 weeks).
loading...
if she thought she was preggo because her period was late a simple home pregnancy test would have done the trick!
loading...
Home pregnancy kits don’t work with 100% effectiveness until a few weeks into the pregnancy right?
loading...
yeah, I agree with the pregnancy test. and I think because she’s a obstetrician, she wanted to skip the pee test and just be sure straight away.
loading...
I didn’t believe 3 pee on a stick tests and went and had a dating scan at 5 weeks – saw a little blob on a screen that confirmed it. But really who cares … Patrick forever. Sigh.
loading...
OMG!!!!!! How amazing was it!!
loading...
Spoiler alert WA people!
Thank god Nina and Patrick got their shit together because, my god, their miscommunication was really pissing me off!!
Great, great, season finale. I’ll need to watch it again just to love it all over again!
loading...
Freakin awesome 8)
loading...
How good was it??!!!! There HAS TO be a season 4
loading...
I can’t believe that grown women are having this type of conversation. Do you not have anything important to do other than watch a second rate tv show?
loading...
Party pooper
loading...
Aw anon don’t be like that! It’s a good show. You’re the bummer who feels so negative you made this comment!
Cheer up sunshine!
loading...
Sorry. I’m having a first class shitty day. I seem to be a little cynical.
loading...
Sorry you’re having a bad day
loading...
Aw I feel like that sometimes. You need a cupcake and some tea. And a hug?
loading...
Or watch Offsrping, seriously it’ll give you a laugh ! A bit of a break from reality often improves a shitty day i find
loading...
If it was a ‘second rate’ show, it wouldn’t have such a huge following!
Just because you personally don’t like the show, doesn’t mean it’s a ‘second rate’ show. That is only your opinion.
The rest of us (who DO love the show) are entitled to voice our thoughts and emotions and share them with one another. No-one is asking you to take part in the conversation.
loading...
Sorry Anon, I reacted to your original post before I read the replies to you. I had a similar argument with my brother earlier tonight about the show.
loading...
Thankyou, but there’s no need to apologise, I was ready to bite anyone’s head off last night.
sometimes we need escapist activities to be able to better cope with the real world. It’s me who should apologise, and I am sorry.
loading...
It is a bit like shades of grey….. A shit book, badly written, tedious but everyone reading… Only problem is the readers who read all the time think its crap, non readers think its quality as they have nothing to compare it to
loading...
Shades of Grey-ish? How insulting!
loading...
Kill joy! Why can’t people be excited and happy about a TV show that, although it isn’t real, is entertaining, full of home grown talent and showcases some treasures of Melbourne.
loading...
Nothing wrong with an occasional escape from reality – and this show is so good! Come on! Join the fun! You won’t regret it!
))
loading...
YESSSS THEY GOT BACK TOGETHER AND HAVING A BABY!!! I’m crying! Love love
loading...
“2. If Billie falls pregnant and miscarries her baby – I may never switch the TV on again. No matter what the show is. I know that they do love a bit of drama on the show and they are not beyond going down this path but I really, really hope they don’t.”
I would LOVE for this kind of storyline to be incorporated into Offspring actually. I’d love it if just for once a character didn’t get the happy ending eg finally managed to fall pregnant, adopted a baby or fostered etc but actually had to come to terms with having to live childfree not by choice because you know what? There are many of us living this life, that we didn’t choose, that we don’t want to be living and we are SO not represented in most shows because it’s “easier” to give a character a “happy ending”.
It wouldn’t be about drama if they wrote this storyline it would be about acknowledging that sometimes we don’t all get our happy ending, for some of us our arms will always be left empty and our heart aching and wanting.
loading...
This already happened to Billie last season. She was pregnant then went for an ultrasound at the hospital and Nina then had to tell her that there was no heartbeat. Poor Billie
loading...
Yes ONCE. I’m talking about extending the storyline to include multiples and then for her not to get her happy ending. It would just be nice, if once, I and others who are living the hell I am, were represented – we don’t ALL get our happy ending.
loading...
You know, I get wanting a baby of your own desperately, I truly truly do. But if it’s too late, for whatever reason and there will be no baby, there are sooooo many children and babies desperate for foster homes. I met a woman yesterday who brought home 4 week old twins from hospital and they are still there, 4 years later. Not her own, no. Not a guarantee they will always be there, no. But better than a life of wishing and becoming bitter about not having your own baby?
loading...
Im a causal watcher of Offspring but it’s my media duty to watch the finale. Is every episode this emotional? It’s been on less that 30 minutes and I have got a bit teary 3 times!
loading...
I’m IQing it so that anyone in my house that feels the need to breathe, talk or pass by the lounge room will be in bed or as far away from me, Nina, Patrick, the Proudman’s & gang as possible. Then it will be Pj’s, ice cream & tissues. Can’t wait to watch but don’t want it to be over???
loading...
Arrrrgh I still haven’t watched Season 2 yet!!!!!!!!
loading...
Oh, and can we please have a post tomorrow for us all to de-brief?!
Pretty please?
loading...
Agreed! Post episode discussion article tomorrow please!!!
loading...
Hi Lana!
I’ve already seen the final episode so won’t make any comments!
Well, except to say (as I said on iVillage the other day), that if Channel 10 don’t sign on for another season I will NEVER EVER watch a Channel 10 program again. Never!
PS: really like the variety of things going on over at iVillage x
loading...
Thanks Cordeline.
Do we need next season? is it going to be a cliff hanger? Will Alfie be okay? Will Mick be a dick (sorry it rhymed) Will Nina be happy?
We need to talk!xxx
loading...
Wash your mouth out!! We most definitely DO need another season! lol
Meanwhile, Desperate Housewives is finishing tomorrow night – forever!! But that’s okay, it’s gone a bit downhill over the last couple of seasons! probably why they decided to end it! haha!
loading...
Sorry, until last week I didn’t even know that Nina’s name was Nina… No idea who you’re talking about there.

just curious – has it been explained why MM is transitioning into iVillage – did I miss a memo?

Hi Charmaine,
You can get all the details about the relationship between the two websites here: http://www.mamamia.com.au/social/mamamia-celebrates-5-years-and-launches-new-website/
But in short – we’re not transitioning, we’ve just made an excellent new friend who we want you all to meet! We also thought that the MM readers might be missing a bit of Lana and thought we’d have her over to our place for a while (and the iVillage Offspring post was pretty ace so we wanted to steal…half of it!)

Hi Charmaine
