Being a mother-effing Hollywood icon has not saved Samuel L Jackson from incurring the wrath of the pornography industry. In fact, his fame has made their anger a whole lot worse.
While on a promotional panel for Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Jackson was asked what modern innovation he’d recommend for the recently defrosted Captain America. His response? “RedTube”.
His nod towards the free porn streaming site is what has erotic film stars’ backs up. RedTube is like the YouTube of porn, but with even more pirated videos. By suggesting a free source of spank-bank material, Samuel L Jackson is cheating adult stars out of much-needed income.
The porn industry faces exactly the same piracy issues as the rest of the entertainment industry, so by endorsing RedTube, Samuel L Jackson is giving props to one arm of the same machine that’s cheating Hollywood out of millions of dollars a year. That’s what the porn stars are saying, at least.
One actress in particular, Catalina Cruz, has called for a total boycott of Samuel L Jackson’s films in response to his comment. Meanwhile, another adult star, Tanya Tate, has taken a more friendly approach, saying:
“I would gladly send a catalog of adult movies I have directed to Mr. Jackson if he would be so kind as to recant the comment.
I have a stack of porn for him to help him see the error of his ways.”
In a statement to TMZ, a group of porn industry insiders have said:
Superheroes don’t steal porn.
