wonderful to see the lovely nikki gemmel being interviewed.

would love to have seen her asked if she was ever influenced to write that book by seeing the manuscript ‘hideous’ by another writer no one’s ever supposed to mention???

was great to see her though

Rebecca Sparrow – I love you right now. You hit the nail on the head. Creative people are quite fragile people, we have all gone through heartbreak and tragedy. Society does tend to forget about this fact, that when an artist sings about pain and lost love, it is because they have endured it.

Look at Britney Spears. Her songs are basically a story of her fame.
Lucky = Struggling with her fame
Stronger = Attempting to regain control
    Overprotected = Speaks for itself
Everytime = A little girl trapped in a womans body

That conversation really spoke to me. I have written some pretty haunting poetry in the past, on my own experiences.

Bec- I wonder if you had a link to the UNSW sexual assault study? I am interested to read more but had no luck googling

      Hey Nancy – I don’t miss it….:)
THat’s lovely of you that you liked it but I found it a huge struggle. No intimacy on that old desk set and just too newsy and not….MM enough.
I feel like this new format closes the gap between the site and the show. We still have a lot to do in terms of tweaks and polises but the big leap is there I think……

really enjoyed the show – my first one as I didn’t see the original series – and found it a good balance of informative topics and fun. and I managed 10 kms on my cross trainer while watching and still had 11 minutes to spare so how’s that for multi-tasking and a productive use of time.

can i say that the comment of the show, which had me giggling long after your conversation had moved on, was Bec commenting that her real issue with the todler beauty queens is that they dress like adults from 1982, in mini-Krystal Karrington style….

I am also not a fan of the orange background, as many others mention below, as it seemed to wash everything else out.

looking forward to episode 2 next week.

Great show! Watched it tonight and loved it. I particularly liked the mini vids of Mia between the commercials, it certainly personalised it and made it less ‘newsy’ which is what MM is all about.

Me again! I just wanted to add that one of the wonderful things about this site that I thought was really reflected in the show is that mamamia is like life. The good, the bad (or the best and worst), the trivial, the hard news. I love that Mia is happy to change her views and that she will admit to being a hypocrite. And I loved how in the show you see Bec looking off into the distance ‘ah graph, where’s that graph?’ and that everything isn’t seamless. So the show isn’t perfect, you cut each other off and the clips don’t pop up automatically, but that’s life. And that’s what makes this site, and this version of the show, so easy to relate to and enjoy.

I really enjoyed that. It reminded me of all the conversations you hear, whether it be on a bus or in a cafe, between people you don’t know but the discussion is just so interesting that you want to jump in with your own thoughts, except that of course you are stopped by a sense of social decency.

The format is great, I wanted to be a part of the conversation. So instead I just nodded enthusiastically while adding in my own little comments. I’m sure there are many of us out here that wish we had some sort of accolade to our name so we could be a guest on the show!

I didnt watch the first series of Mamamia TV after episode one…but this is waaaaay better. I love that conversations were left half said – exactly the way the conversations in my life are. A great balance of opinions.

I still feel really sorry that Mia experienced cyber bullying re: Cadel-gate. I actually dont think Mia need apologise for her timing. Frankly, Mia voiced an opinion many of us share. Interesting that the loud and abusive few felt it so necessary to shout her down.

Well done – I really enjoyed that. Thanks xxx

Good TV show. Apart from that one, ill-timed remark about Cadel (or Aussie sports champions in general), I find Mia is usually a terrific commentator on life.
The show should be available to view online like ABC, CH7 and CH10 do with their shows.

Just a few comments on the new format, I am being super nit picky so apologies in advance if this comes across as blunt but they just stood out to me and I hope you take it as constructive criticism. One, the introductions at the start seem awkward and formal and make me think of those “introduction games”, I think they could definitely be improved, and made more casual, more introductory rather than a “Hi Mia” comment. Also the super that has the MM twitter hash on it needs to be lower, when it pops up it often sits on the chin of the person talking and is quite distracting. Also the orange background and the huge, empty space around the table is a bit too much. I think you’re trying to create a “warm” feeling with the colour and communal table but for me it just misses the mark. Perhaps this is enhanced by the high camera angles, anyway just something else that stood out for me.

This new format is so much better. The only two things I found that bothered me were:
    -the orange background (garish)
-Mia’s red lipstick (it was very red!)

I did also want to reach in to the Telly and pull Bec’s top back up on to her shoulder – but that’s probably just me :) .

You should be proud team, job well done.

Also I had no idea how bad the vitriol towards Mia was during Cadel gate. I was one who disagreed with Mia’s comments but I also felt Karl led Mia into that one which doesn’t reflect well on him. Anyhow, Mia I’m glad you’ve bounced back from that criticism and I’m really sorry that you went through it at all. There’s nothing quite like Internet haters, but that seemed particularly appalling and aggressive.

      Hi Angie
I would officially like to apologise for my top. Because I am a TV novice, I wore the wrong colour AND the wrong fabric! Definitely better, but I still feel that people aren’t relaxed ad they could be. The dining table didn’t work for me, maybe because I was expecting a couch lol, and I thighs the orange was awful(sorry). I felt the stage was very sterile too, and the close ups were a bit too close up!

Coffin table! EXACTLY what I thouht Rick….but aside from Coffin table’s shape I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT!!!!!!!

I also loved last series but this was HEAPSSSSSS better!!

EXCELLENT viewing! Time passed super quick as a viewer and like @KerriSackville said on twitter, I wanted to DIVE into my tv and join in the convo at the table…..

Esp. at one point…..when Anthony was saying what Mia had / hadn’t done or explaining WHY the timing was bad etc etc etc – THAT WASN’T THE POINT – the point – which was made very clearly and correctly by Kellie was the HORRENDOUSLY inappropriate behaviour of ADULTS.

REGARDLESS of whether Mia was right or wrong – or even if Mia was “good or bad” or WHATEVER – the abuse she received was OUT OF CONTROL NOT OK – THAT was the point!

This series will you be mixing up the guests a bit ? By that I mean will there ever be the occasional token “rightie” on the panel just to provide a different perspective on the issues that everyone is talking about ? It could be a bit bland if everyone agrees on the serious issues but differs on the trivial, every day type matters. I want to see a bit of “Beauty and the Beast-esque” fire and brimstone. It really makes for great television. Prue might be available, I’m sure.

Looking forward to the show, regardless. Promise to give me a wave, Mia….or at the very least the death stare that you must give your screen when you read one of my off on a tangent mini raves. :) A quick “Bradley, this is for you” death stare. Would love it !

Can you please ask the nice technical people over at SKY why the Friday night show won’t series link on the IQ ? My IQ automatically searched out the Saurday afternoon re-run and series linked it. During the first series, it wasn’t until about program 4 that I was able to series link it.
