It was the wedding that apparently raked in $18 million for Kim Kardashian who recently appeared in weekend magazines in stories titled ‘My life as a brand’. And a wedding is the ultimate ‘plot’ point in the career of someone who does reality TV for a living.

Or so the cynics say. Perhaps Kim Kardashian’s wedding to NBA star Kris Humphries was the real deal. And perhaps it really did all fall apart in 72-days (which, believe it or not, isn’t the shortest celeb wedding on record).

As news of the impending divorce broke (Kim is filing, citing ‘irreconcilable differences’) her sisters hopped on to Twitter to get their support out there.

“Reading some these comments r so hurtful. Im grateful 4our fans who understand & r being respectful. Hate is disgusting. Love is everything.” That was Khloe. She added: “We are strong and we will only become closer. I love YOU.”

Kourtney followed up :”Our sister is going through a difficult time but we’re a close family and are sticking together like always.” “We appreciate everyone’s kindness and support. @KimKardashian, we love you.”

Kim married Kris in a glitzy ceremony in August.

In a statement, she said:

“After careful consideration, I have decided to end my marriage. I hope everyone understands this was not an easy decision.

‘I had hoped this marriage was forever, but sometimes things don’t work out as planned. We remain friends and wish each other the best.”

Kris, on the other hand, appeared to be taken by surprise.

“I love my wife and am devastated to learn she filed for divorce … I’m willing to do whatever it takes to make it work.”

The rumours had been gurgling around for months now (well, pretty much since the wedding ceremony finished) that the couple were having arguments and things were not all puppy dogs and roses.

According to divorce docs filed by Kardashian Monday, the reality starlet asked the court to reject any request by Humphries for spousal support. She also asked that both parties cover their own legal fees.

The couples assets will be divided in accordance with their prenup. According to Us Weekly, the prenup protects all of Kardashian’s assets prior to the marriage (the Kardashians pulled in $65 million last year alone), and she will also keep everything she earned during their short union.

By contrast, Humpries — who is currently unemployed due to the NBA lockout — reportedly makesaround $3.2 million a year.
