Thanks to a death hoax on Twitter, the last couple of days have left people wondering – is Keanu Reeves dead or alive?
After the news of Whitney Houston’s death hit over the weekend, there have been a spate of celebrity death rumours circling the net; Keanu’s death hoax started as a rumour and quickly spread like wildfire, ending up as trending topic on Twitter with people discussing his death in a snowboarding accident.
The rumour was originally set in motion by a fake news site called Global Associated News, who reported the following, along with a photo of an air lift of Keanu Reeves and a video about Zermatt Ski resort:
Actor Keanu Reeves is reported to have died shortly after a snowboard accident earlier today – February 12, 2012.
The actor & novice snowboarder was vacationing at the Zermatt ski resort in Zermatt, Switzerland with family and friends. Witnesses indicate that Keanu Reeves lost control of his snowboard and struck a tree at a high rate of speed.
Keanu Reeves was air lifted by ski patrol teams to a local hospital, however, it is believed that the actor died instantly from the impact of the crash. The actor was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident and drugs and alcohol do not appear to have played any part in his death.
Keanu joins a long list of celebrities who have been falsely reported as dead – including rapper Drake (who was the victim of another Twitter hoax last week), Eddie Murphy, Adele, Charlie Sheen, Adam Sandler and Tiger Woods.
What is it with Twitter trying to kill all these celebrities? And isn’t it a little bit scary how quickly rumour spreads these days – even if it’s false?
We’re happy to tell you all that Keanu Reeves has since been reported to be perfectly fine and is well and alive.

Keanu Reeves has a reputation for being the 'quiet achiever'.

And what exactly is the point of this article and the gallery – another indication of the direction of this site!
I’m only commenting because I’m disappointed and thought better of Mamamia, and believe that things can be changed.

“After the news of Whitney Houston’s death hit over the weekend, there have been a spate of celebrity death rumours”
Actually twitter has had an RIP trending topic almost every day for the past few weeks, nit just since Whitney died.
When my boyfriend told me Whitney had died and that he read it on twitter I told him it wasn’t true just another silly trending topic. It wasn’t until he checked the news AND Facebook that we actually believed it.

Well thank goodness Keanu is still alive & kicking… I love him, particularly in The Lake House, but any of his films will do… sigh!

The grieving of celebrity death is something that really makes me shake my head when it comes to some Twitter users.
As soon as Whitney’s death was announced, people were tweeting Courtney Love and Lindsay Lohan asking why they were still alive and warned them that they’d be next. I saw many responses along the lines of ‘Why Whitney and not Lindsay.’ ‘Sheen and Lohan you’re next’ etc.
Can people not grieve a celebrity addict who lost their battle without wishing some other celebrity addict died instead?

Not that I want him to die, but if he had (or when he does) then at least people might learn how to pronounce my second born son’s name once TV and radio news outlets report of it.

It’s not new though, is it?
Paul (McCartney) is dead rumours in the 60s…
Mark Twain’s famous quote: “The report of my death was an exaggeration.”
It’s just the media that has changed (and the speed)…
I think we can all cope…nothing to worry about is there?

Speaking of Speed…if that bus drops below 50 miles an hour…just saying
