God Bless WAGS and their fashion choices.

Not because I would choose to dress like a horny mermaid myself but because IT WAS INTERESTING. I am so tired of boring safe outfits on the red carpet. It’s theatre people! Can’t we have some fun!

Before stylist got their greedy, stylish hands on celebrities, the red carpet used to be a hoot.

Remember this?

And these?

And these?

And these?

And also this?

I MISS THOSE BATSHIT CRAZY FASHION TIMES, DAMMIT. Yes, I am deeply nostalgic for the days when celebrities were asked about their frock and they’d proudly say “I designed it myself”. Because that was a guarantee of something extra special.

WAGS aren’t usually celebrities in their own right. They’re WAGS with their own lives and jobs and families. They don’t always have stylists. In fact they rarely do. Instead, they have to DIY. They even sometimes have to…gasp….PAY MONEY for the dress they wear. And like the rest of us, they sometimes get it right and sometimes get it wrong. Does every red carpet look have to be stylish and perfect and safe?

Do we want to see a sea of black Armani strapless sheaths? Do we want to drown in an ocean of Simply Stylish ALL THE TIME? These women are not fashion models they’re just women who happen to date or be married to sportsmen.

Is it really such a big deal if they wear something a little bit outrageous? Do we take this whole red carpet thing a bit too seriously?
