1. Now here’s some beautiful news you probably weren’t expecting to hear: Fifi Box – co-host of the Fifi & Jules show across the Today Network – is pregnant. And made the announcement live on air this afternoon.

She said:

“I’ll be honest… I’ve been feeling a bit bad lately. You know how I’ve referred a couple of times to the fact that I’ll be putting on weight this summer? I thought to myself – maybe that’s a bad message to put out. I’m not trying to be irresponsible, so I should put it in context.

When I said I was going to get fat for summer – I do mean I want to get really big. Like so big that you’d almost be forgiven for thinking I have another human being inside me. In fact… I do have another human being inside me. I’M HAVING A BABY!”

When speaking about her first trimester, she said: “I’ve watched friends have babies, nobody ever goes into how much detail about how much morning sickness sucks. It’s awful. And I’m waiting for this glow to kick in – when does that happen?”

“It’s the most amazing thing that’s ever happened to me. Look out, there’s another Box coming into the world!”

“The moment I saw this little baby on the ultrasound I burst into tears. it’s the most overwhelming love that I knew was out there but never experienced.”

Fifi Box

Yes the most exciting thing that’s ever happened to me is incubating in my stomach right now and I’ve never been so excited in my life. For the past few months I’ve been bonding with this little person that’s growing in my belly and it is the truest and most indescribable joy I have ever felt. I have been blessed throughout my life and loved every twist and turn in my journey, but despite the happiness I have experienced with career and friendships, there has always been something missing. I have never been much of a planner and my approach to life has been to grasp opportunities and run with them seeing where they lead, and they led me to a wonderful career. But like many women in their thirties I was starting to wonder if it had come at a cost, and for me it was the greatest cost, because despite loving my life nothing could replace what I truly wanted more than anything, to be a mother. Having spent the past few years watching friends have babies my heart has ached wondering if this blessing would ever come my way. When I first saw my little angel on the ultrasound I dissolved into tears and in that moment my heart exploded with love.

For those who don’t know I began seeing someone at the end of last year who would like to remain out of the public eye which I will respect and endeavour to protect. The focus for me is to make sure I bring a happy, healthy baby into the world who knows how much it is loved. In fact I’m a bit scared I may love it too much. Once this chubby little bundle is in my arms I’m going to smother it with kisses until it’s eighteenth birthday when it tells me to back off because I’m embarrassing them. I’m so incredibly lucky to be surrounded by an amazing family and circle of friends who have been supporting me through the most horrendous morning sickness (I don’t remember reading about that on the brochure) and like me they are all impatiently waiting for this little person to hurry up and enter the world so we can all smother it with love. From now on my main objective is to be the best mum I can be, and I can’t wait to meet this little person who I am already so in love with.

2.”You love who you love.” They’re the words from former Biggest Loser host AJ Rochester who has just revealed she’s bisexual.

She’s told Women’s Day magazine, who are running some incredibly staged pictures of AJ with a woman at the beach: “I’m proud of being part of the gay community – by definition I would consider myself ‘bi’ as, of course, I am attracted to men also… I have been with men and women, and you love who you love. I’ve never said I’m straight.”

We wish AJ and whoever she loves, all the best.

5. The man ‘pleasuring himself’ in the new Marc Jacobs ad.

Some people are calling the ad ‘smart and funny,’ while others prefer ‘new low in advertising.’

Take a look and tell us what you think.

6. Quite genius cakes of women giving birth that will make you think about your pelvic floor (is it wrong that these pictures made us feel hungry?):

7. The new host of Australia’s Next Top Model is? Following in the high-heeled footsteps of Sarah Murdoch, Erika Heynatz and Jodhi Meares,  Jennifer Hawkins has been announced as the new host of ANTM.

In an interview with Kyle and Jackie O this morning, 28-year-old Hawkins said: “When people asked, I said I have no idea but in my mind I was saying, ‘Yes! I am the host’.”

Megan Gale, Miranda Kerr and even Liz Hurley were rumoured to be in the running for the hosting role, but Megan Gale said on Twitter this morning that she was “never in the running.”

The show will start on FOX8 mid 2013.

In other model news, Elle Macpherson’s relationship with 57-year-old millionaire Roger Jenkins has reportedly ended because of distance. And Lara Bingle has revealed she’s launching an underwear label – just like Elle MacPherson’s.

8. Wait, is this new Gaga clip a music video or a sex tape?

9. Good luck getting this song out of your head. It’s not everyday that an ad by an Australian state transit authority goes viral.

But that’s what’s happened with this catchy tune called ‘Dumb Ways To Die,’ made by Victoria’s Metro Trains. It’s been viewed more than 4.7 million times in four days.

The video aims to curb preventable train related deaths, but also gives hints like ‘don’t eat a tube of super glue’ and ‘don’t use your private parts as piranha bait.’ Handy.

10. And finally, how awesome would this Dawson’s Creek reunion be?

I’m very happy for fifi, she’s got a lot of love to give.
Interesting she’s 35 tho, I’m thinking she’s shaved a few years off. She finished school in 93, I know this as I went to school with her! And I’m coming up to being 38….

Agree! Before I read your comment, I was already ready to post this of my own conclusion: “Happy news but I don’t believe Fifi is 35. More like 38.”

I don’t know… I reckon she’s telling the truth. She could be 35, turning 36 this year. That would make sense. I finished school in ’91 and am 38.

She was school captain in 1993 – year 12. So unless she was 16 in year 12…..as I said she was the year above me and I’m turning 37 so fifi must be 37 or 38 if she was 18 in yr 12

I am fairly sure a lot of Fifi’s articles – at least in the first half of this year – focussed on singledom and being “single again” and what she missed about having a partner, and all about the dating scene etc – unless I am mistaken.
It doesn’t quite add up if she has been seeing someone since late last year ? Either the partner is made up or all the single stuff was. Wonder which it is ?!

Sorry but AJ’s just about the publicity. If you’re bi (or whatever) good on you, just get on with life. I don’t feel the need to make announcements to my friends and family that I’m hetro or my brothers homo. She’s just another minor, try hard celeb looking for some way to beat up a story to get their mug in a magazine.

Also I am tired of the language around homosexuality and bisexuality.
Words like he ‘denied’ he was gay, she ‘admitted’ she was bi, or ‘openly’ gay. It implies that there is something wrong with this.
Even ‘coming out’ – I never came out as heterosexual. No one should have to ‘declare’ themselves or ‘get busted’ kissing their lover on a beach.

Why is it even a headline? This is not the 1960s.

I am straight but look forward to the day when people’s sexuality orientation isn’t front webpage news.

Imagine if you wrote ‘The Aussie Celeb Who’s Dating an Asian’ about Curtis Stone.

‘Dumb ways to Die’ is catchy and obviously has a serious message, but my first thoughts are that people do make poor decisions which can result in death but I wonder how the families of those who have been killed by trains and other strange means would feel about this???

re the Marc Jacobs ad – women are sexualised all the time – I love the idea of normalising men masturbating

A young extended family member of mine died in an incident involving a train and a car. Her immediate family have become advocates for educating people to stay safe when crossing train lines etc, they don’t want other families to go through what they have. I’ve seen people take risks with train lines and it angers me so much – it simply is a really dumb thing to do!

Good on AJ Rochester. I don’t know anything about her, but I agree with the sentiment that you love who you love and in theory, shouldn’t be ashamed about it. If that’s someone of the opposite sex, or the same sex, or both – great. As someone who is bisexual but out to virtually no-one, I admire her. I am too scared of the judgement of family and long-term friends to do anything but hide behind the half of my feelings that are ‘acceptable’.

However I do have mixed feelings about the media article – while it no doubt brings comfort and a tiny bit of normalisation to people like me, the “It’s a Woman!!!!” headline screams sensationalism which somewhat neutralises the normalisation…
