Guy Sebastian has achieved a lot since those famous ‘fro days on Australian Idol in 2003. Now a man with a successful career, a father and a husband, Guy is talking about how his beliefs have changed from a devout Christian to views based more on life and discovery.
This from news.com.au:
“My views are more based on life and discovery and research than just what I’m told,” he said.
“Because what I was told in regards to so many things was so wrong. I’ve gone from a place where I was told there was one way and only one way, to being more in a place where I don’t think anyone has the right to say what they believe is more important or more significant.”
Also speaking about gay marriage, he said:
“I don’t think anyone has the right to tell someone who they can and can’t be in love with,”
“You look back at the unfair things that happen in history and this will be looked back on as one of those things.
“People will think ‘Oh my gosh I can’t believe the world was in that state, that they held those views’.
“It’s pretty unfair for people to not be able to claim the same benefits, that’s ridiculous.”
Every mother/daughter relationship has its ups and downs, but this is just getting ridiculous. Lindsay and Dina Lohan were involved in a violent fight this morning, involving cocaine, a $40,000 loan and the Police.
The Daily Mail reports:
TMZ has an audio recording of the call where Lindsay is heard telling her father that the row erupted ‘over $40,000,’ and claims Dina threatened to ‘call the cops on me.’
Lindsay is heard screaming: ‘Dad, she’s on cocaine. She’s like touching her neck, and s***. She’s saying disgusting things to me… I’m dead to her now.’
The webiste reports that Dina had drunk four glasses of wine but eaten nothing before the encounter.
The website reports that Lindsay gave Dina $40,000 to help save her home from foreclosure. But last night, Lindsay wanted her money back.
Law enforcement officers arrived at Dina’s home after receiving a complaint alleging that Lindsay was ‘being held against her will by Dina and her driver.’
The altercation happened after mother and daughter went to the Electric Room nightclub in the Dream Hotel in New York City together, leaving at 4am.
Police took a Domestic Incident Report but made no arrests.

What do you get when you combine Geoffrey Edelsten and a website called mysugardaddy.com? A very messy court case, that’s what. The 69 year old ‘medical entrepreneur’ is in a legal stoush with an American woman he met on the site during the four weeks he was separated from his wife Brynne. Edelsten claims Stacy Da Silva owes him money and insists he did not have a romantic relationship with her.
This from news.com.au:
Dr Edelsten admitted combining a business trip to Florida with an opportunity to meet 32-year-old New Jersey woman Stacy Da Silva, paying for her flight to Miami and buying her items including a Louis Vuitton handbag, after he received an email from her on the dating website, the court was told.
But Dr Edelsten said he had not created a profile of himself on the website and the first he knew about his presence on it was when someone, whom he cannot recall, emailed him to tell him he was featured on it.
Dr Edelsten said he then began visiting the website earlier this year and was contacted by a large number – although he denied it was 300 – of females wanting to make contact with him.
He said he had simply offered to help Ms Da Silva financially, including offering her a financial loan, and had no romantic intention.
“I regard her as a schemer,” Dr Edelsten said, confirming earlier reports that he made and then withdrew a complaint to US police in March that Ms Da Silva had stolen money and a phone from him.
At the time, Dr Edelsten was apparently living apart from his wife – Brynne – whose TV show is currently running on channel 7 (you can read all about it here).
The lesson here? Stay away from all websites mentioning sugar daddies. Blanket rule.

Tori Spelling reveals that being pregnant with her fourth child nearly killed her. You might know that the celebrity was in hospital recently, due to complications following the birth of Finn Davey McDemott in August. Her husband explained her hospital visit as “tests”, and Tori deflected the attention by tweeting throughout – but now she has spoken to US Weekly to tell them exactly what happened during that time.
This from the Daily Mail:
While Tori was carrying her son, the mother-of-four was diagnosed with placenta previa at the 20 week mark – a condition where the placenta covers the cervix and causes internal bleeding.
The California native even spoke of the moment she discovered she was in danger, waking up at 6am with ‘blood streaming down my legs’ and asking toddler daughter Stella to ‘go get daddy’.
The 39-year-old was rushed to hospital, where she spent 10 weeks receiving treatment followed by four months of bed rest, and she was even close to having her pregnancy terminated to save her life.
However, she battled through and gave birth to Finn Davey McDermott on August 30.
But more drama followed for the reality star and TV movie favourite, as three weeks after Finn’s birth, Tori’s C-section scar burst and she returned to hospital for emergency surgery.
Tori admits the biggest fear she had when she was told she could die was leaving her three other children without a mother – five-year-old Liam, Stella, four, and 12-month-old Hattie.
She added: ‘I just remember thinking, “I can’t leave three children behind.”‘

Hulk Hogan’s sex tape was leaked earlier this week - and apparently he’s “mortified”. According to E!Online, the wrestling star told the Today show:
“First off, I had no idea there was a camera in the room. It was at a very, very low point. I’m not making excuses. I’m accountable. I was the guy. I was there. I made the choice,” the 59-year-old Hogan told co-hosts Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb when they asked about “the elephant in the room.”
Hogan was quick to point out that the secretly recorded sexual relations came when his 25-year old union to his first wife, Linda Hogan, had already imploded.
“It was at a really low point in my life when I was in a previous marriage when things were bottomed out completely,” said Hogan. “I was with some friends and I made a wrong choice. And now, all of a sudden, it surfaces over six years later, and it’s just appalling. It’s totally flipped my new life…upside down.”
He also told Today that he’s going “full-blown” to learn the identity of the person who leaked the tape – swearing to take appropriate legal action.
Do you think these urinals are misogynistic? A Sydney restaurant has been forced to remove two urinals, in the shape of wide-open women’s mouths, from their men’s restrooms.
According to the Sydney Morning Herald:
Feminist publisher Anne Summers said interior design was not an excuse for misogyny.
“Misogyny is very widespread, and this is just an example of misogyny,” she said.
“The concept is pretty challenging and confronting.
“They’re asking men to put their d—- in these mouths as urinals.”
What do you think – should they have been removed?

The “Rocky Horror” and “Rolling Stones” lip-sticked mouths are male actually, although this urinal mouth reminds me more of the “Little Shop of Horrors” plant – mouth – in any case it’s supposed to be a joke…….
You have a point though “Cold” – because some men who lack media savvy might view something like this as female but their misogynistic or “other” fantasies would reveal themselves in other ways.
Guy Sebastion seems like a lovely person no matter what his beliefs…….sometimes when people grow & mature they’re faced with “reality checks”……..there’s something about the music business that encourages a more understanding view of the differences between people………….in fact, in my work I’ve found that actors, musicians, performers & creative folk generally are the most tolerant of all .

I can’t believe some people find those lips urinals just ‘a bit of a giggle’. What’s funny about a man pretending he’s pissing in a woman’s mouth?

Please MM techie people, Why when I view these stories on my phone and I click on the third gallery down why do I have to flick through every other gallery first? I didn’t want to look at Lindsey Lohan or the blue dresses but I did want to look at Lisa and Georgie but I had to flip through every other picture to get to get to it rather annoying.

Hear hear! It is SOOO frustrating!

Haha, we saw those toilets in a bar in Florence, Italy. I don’t know, I’m not totally outraged, just a bit of a giggle.

Agreed. As long as there was an alternative ‘regular’ toilet for those men who may not have wanted to use it, I think it’s a bit of fun

When I see lips like that I think Rolling Stones or Rocky Horror. It’s pop art.

I don’t understand what you are doing with the Hugo Schwyzer story? Are you just ignoring all the comments on your FB page? You’ve closed comments but given no reason. I really don’t understand how you can not even acknowledge the outrage the article has caused and the links to sites describing this man as dangerous? Or have I missed it somewhere today? I hope so…

Hi Kerr,
Thanks so much for the comment. We read Hugo’s story as a group and agreed that while the headline was confronting, the story behind it was poignant. Mamamia publishes a range of opinions – this was just one of them. As for closing comments, there were numerous accusations being thrown around about the author. He’s going to write us a follow up post which we’ll publish as soon as it comes through.

Thanks Lucy!
I look forward to it reading it.

Please don’t – he has an awful history and I don’t think you’re doing feminism any favours by publishing his articles. I’ve enjoyed this site for a long time but if he is going to be featured in the future I’m just not going to stick around.
These ‘accusations’ are true, and it’s scary that rather than talk about them you just close comments so that everyone’s in the dark about them. Why’s he so special? Don’t your readers deserve more?
I guess at least there’s some comfort in knowing that I’m not the only one aware of his history.
