Chris Noth AKA Mr Big calls Carrie Bradshaw a "whore".

That’s your WIFE you’re talking about, Chris Noth.

Well, sort of.

In an interview with news.com.au, Chris Noth, the actor who plays Mr Big from Sex And The City, called the character he played opposite for seven season and two movies, Carrie Bradshaw, “such a whore”. His tone was joking but the offence for Carrie fans and feminists everywhere was real.

Chris, 59, is on a publicity tour in Australia for Chivas Regal Extra Scotch. (That’s not a movie by the way, it’s a beverage). So basically, he’s here in Oz, drinking a bunch of scotch and swearing a lot.

A media rep interviewed him (bleeping out the expletives), and asked how he survived post-Sex And The City life having played a notorious commitment-phobic wanker for such a long time (our words, not theirs).

Noth responded:

One of the things I tell people is that he never tried to pretend he was anything other than what he was. It was [Carrie] who tried to pretend he was something he wasn’t. He was always honest about himself — he never cheated on her. The relationship just didn’t work, and he went on to get married while she went on to … how many boyfriends did she have? She was such a whore! [laughs] There’s a misconception that Carrie was a victim of him, and that’s not the case — she was a strong, smart woman.

Let’s get a few things straight before we continue….

A woman who has a lot of sexual partners is not someone you should be calling a whore, Chris. In fact, you shouldn’t be calling anyone a whore. Sex and the City was remarkable for its time because it showed that women could be strong, smart, sassy and sexually independent. Women were valued for who they were and not how they were partnered up or who they slept with. That is something you should be proud to have been a part of. So how about not reinforcing outdated and insulting stereotypes that women who have multiple partners are somehow less worthy?

Also, you left Carrie at the altar you numnut and we ain’t never forgiving you for that.

In other less blood-boiling news, Chris Noth was also asked about the countless rumours of a third Sex And The City movie. For anyone who saw the second film and is quaking with disgust right now, we feel you.

The critical response [to SATC 2] was overwhelmingly negative … there was not one good review of that film. Not one. And I think it was very hurtful for the girls, because [the reviews] got personal. The media can be dogs. Just f*cking ravenous dogs. And they just tore it apart — unjustly, because there are a lot of other romantic comedies that are dumb and stupid, and they give them a pass. It’s like they were gunning for us. [The film] was flawed, yeah, but it wasn’t as bad as they made it out to be.

The tweets! I can’t believe those girls are tweeting, they’re being very naughty. I don’t go near Twitter, it’s all bulls**t. I’ll believe it when they say ‘Action!’ and until then I don’t pay any attention. Sure, I’ve heard rumours, but they’ve been sayin’ that s**t for 10 years. It’d be a great thing, but for now it’s all just Tweety-pie s**t.

My, Chris is a potty-mouth. Honest, but a potty-mouth.

A Big one at that.

Carrie. So much pretty. So much skirt.
