Al, what you say is true but it doesn’t change the fact that my doctor has more medical experience than me. He wanted to induce me sooner but I decided to wait as long as he thought it safe, which was two weeks over the due date. As it was my first baby I was happy to go with his opinion and as it turned out it was a very sensible idea. My baby was big and it was a difficult birth, I can’t image if my baby was any bigger….

While medical professionals are definitely well educated, they are still people.

In general, people doing their jobs default to status quo or normal procedure, even in the face of slight variations in the work flow.

It’s very much worth taking an active hand in your own medical care, because however nice and competent a doctor may be, the fact remains that you and your baby are a piece of work, and the way most people treat most work is to take the path of least resistance wherever possible.

I think it was beautiful and sweet and as far as Celebrity bashes go – reasonably low key. Quite tasteful too! Obviously not your run-of-the mill shower but a lot less crazy than I expected.
