Surely it’s been 9 months by now?
Apparently not. Jessica Simpson’s still pregnant. And given she announced her pregnancy in late October, we could still be waiting a while.
In the meantime, have a look at the video of her March baby shower she posted on her website this week.
Media outlets are getting impatient. Some have stated reporting Jess has had her baby girl (who she’ll call Maxi). Weekly magazines are choosing their words carefully. According to Jezebel, one US Magazine with the headline “Inside Jessica’s Dramatic Delivery”, is using phrases like “thanks to the support of her very zen fiancé, Jessica managed to cherish a few beautiful moments in the days leading up to Maxi’s birth.” See what they’re doing there?

But Jessica has taken to Twitter to set the record straight.

i really like JS, she comes across as just a happy, funny girl! the baby shower looks divine!!

Given that there have been rumours of Jess’ pregnancy long before she even was pregnant, it’s not surprising that we think it’s been the longest pregnancy Ever

Love the baby shower video! What a lovely thing to be able to show your baby later on in life.

Hasn’t she had that baby YET! She looks like a big ball!

I think it was beautiful and sweet and as far as Celebrity bashes go – reasonably low key. Quite tasteful too! Obviously not your run-of-the mill shower but a lot less crazy than I expected.

I chose to work right up to my son being born, every morning the same two people would come into my office and say “oh haven’t you had the baby yet”, I was always tempted to say “yes i have and the dog is at home baby sitting” …

Haha someone gave her the “Go the f*** to sleep” book as a gift.

OK…off the topic of “when”…did anyone see “what”???? Someone bought her a copy of GoThe Fruck To Sleep…!!

I spotted it too!

She is such a sweet positive person, not long to go now!

As someone who was pregnant for 10 months (43 weeks 1 day), I can sympathise with her! I was about ready to conk on the head anyone who asked “are you still pregnant?!?!” The funny part was doing the grocery shopping and some hapless shop assistant asking when I was due, “oh about 3 weeks ago” sure made them hurry with the checking out as they seemed to think I was about to drop a baby on their shop floor!

My doctor wouldn’t let me go over 2 weeks. I was induced and had a 4.3kg baby. I’m happy he didn’t let me go any longer!

That was the other reply I got to my answer: “Do they let you go that long?” “Umm, last I checked it was my body and yes I will ‘let’ myself go until my baby is ready” (I had checks with my MW & at 42.5 wks I did go and have an ultrasound to check blood flow through the cord, check baby was getting what she needed but it was always MY choice, and the risks of stillbirth only increase slightly, weighed up against the risks of induction.) FTR she was 4.3kg – it’s a great size! – and not at all wrinkly/”overcooked”. The waiting was bl**dy hard though!

Good on you! I can only imagine how uncomfortable you must have felt by 43 weeks, but I also hate hearing women say ‘are you allowed to go past 40/41/42 weeks?’ or ‘my doctor wouldn’t let me go past 40/41/42 weeks’… Do these women not realise that they can take their care provider’s advice, but nobody can MAKE them give birth. You were obviously well-informed and educated, were being monitored closely, had the support of your midwife and weighed up the pros and cons of being induced versus waiting for nature to take its course, and it sounds like you made the right decision. I can imagine you were quite relieved once your baby finally arrived though!

Sorry, probably shouldn’t have used the phrase “let me go over..”. Of course it is my body and my decision, I was just taking the advise from a trusted medical professional. I was not wanting to upset you. It was my first pregnancy so I was happy to take the advise of someone who had done this many times before.
I think if I had gone on longer with my pregnancy, my baby would have grown bigger and been more difficult to get out. As it was he needed quite a bit of work to get out – very big baby out of a small opening!!
I was certainly not referring that going over a certain amount of weeks equated to a higher stillbirth danger.
Sorry my post upset you, georgieandthree.

Al, what you say is true but it doesn’t change the fact that my doctor has more medical experience than me. He wanted to induce me sooner but I decided to wait as long as he thought it safe, which was two weeks over the due date. As it was my first baby I was happy to go with his opinion and as it turned out it was a very sensible idea. My baby was big and it was a difficult birth, I can’t image if my baby was any bigger….

Of course, why would anyone be so silly as to take the advice of a trained medical professional. And yes, I am being sarcastic.

While medical professionals are definitely well educated, they are still people.
In general, people doing their jobs default to status quo or normal procedure, even in the face of slight variations in the work flow.
It’s very much worth taking an active hand in your own medical care, because however nice and competent a doctor may be, the fact remains that you and your baby are a piece of work, and the way most people treat most work is to take the path of least resistance wherever possible.

Aww so cuddly! I was aiming for a VBAC and went to 42 weeks as well until we all decided we had waited enough and had a c/s and had a healthy BIG 4.56kg/10lb boy with an enormous head!!! Funny how people can’t believe we waited so long – I would have gone longer if I felt it was safe!!

A long time ago when I was pregnant, I came across a website called ‘Ten Month Mummas’ for mummies like yourself

Any woman who’s been pregnant knows how frustrating all the speculation on your size is. “Big” or “small” – either comment still hurts, and it’s hard enough feeling emotional and uncomfortable without people constantly commenting on your figure. Just because you have a baby in there it doesn’t make you immune to judgement and it shouldn’t mean there’s an amnesty on the normal rules of politeness.
I think Jess is handling the downright rude, cruel and hurtful media attention about her weight with good humour and class.
(Well, I guess she has been a bit “TMI” in some aspects – did we really need know about her earth-shattering orgasms?? LOL – but I think in general most of her comments can be summed up under “excited first time mum”)
Good on you Jess – I’m 8 months pregnant too and feel like a whale, at least I don’t have the whole world watching and judging me!

My brother-in-law and his wife were going through IVF so they told us they were pregnant at 4 weeks (or whenever they first implant the whatever – you can tell I haven’t been through IVF). So we knew far too early…the pregnancy seemed to go on for 100 years (and I guess I’m used to people announcing their pregnancy after 12 weeks).

I can only imagine how horrible it is for her to constantly be asked if she’s still pregnant. I felt so anxious and frustrated when people asked me at the end of my pregnancy (“yes, he’s overdue, I’m still pregnant!!”), and that was only a handful of friends and family – not the world’s media!! Poor thing…

I still NOT pregnant.

Let’s face it, Jessica’s been pregnant a hell of a lot longer than Beyonce was! Though Beyonce’s pregnancy was the shortest EVER, it was only a few weeks between the announcement she was pregnant & the birth & no-one saw any baby bump!
Beyonce had the gestation of a kitten & Jessica that of an elephant! lol

I just love her! I love that while everyone’s busy bitching about her being insanely obese (I say that with my tongue in my cheek – she’s obviously not), she’s just tottering around making multi-millions and living the dream. Suck it, haters!!

I’m quite sure she’ll give birth to a fully grown adult…it’s like she’s been pregnant FOREVER!

Irritates me when these celebrities act as if they are the first woman ever to give birth to a child.
Been there, done that, not going back, don’t need to re-live it all through some ‘celebrity’ who feels the need to share every gory detail of her birth, and then chastises me for not losing 20kg five minutes after my baby was born, because she did it.
Ugh.

Oh that had me laughing away- too funny!
Poor Jessica, she is being hounded by people saying “Is she STILL pregnant???” “God I’m sick of hearing it about it”. Well she is probably sick of being pregnant! And she had to tell the world early as it was rather noticeable that she was and gossip mags had speculated for weeks!
So I feel sorry for her.
