This is unexpected.
There’s reports today that an unofficial Adele biography called “Adele: The Biography” has revealed the 24-year-old singer struggled with alcohol in the early days of her career. The book states she was so drunk on one tour she fell off a stool mid-concert and forgot the words to her songs.
According to InTouch magazine, Adele is quoted in the book as saying: “I got so drunk by the time I went on at 2am.” “I had forgotten the words to my own songs… It was the worst thing ever.”
Hmmm….
Arriving at this year's Grammys.
Last week in an interview with an American news channel, Adele spoke candidly about dealing with fame and what it was like to win 4 Grammy awards.

I’ve (unfortunately) paid to see Wendy Matthews in concert and she was drunk on the night and possibly stoned as well – if it’s true of Adele, she’s not alone in doing this … hopefully she gave a better performance than WM woeful and appalling ‘concert’ (she fell everywhere throughout each song and couldn’t remember where she was or what song she was ‘singing’ – we were refused a refund)

Instead of reporting one second hand quote just to make Adele look bad, why don’t you get the biography and read it yourselves, MM… now there’s a novel idea.

Many 24yo would have experienced binge drinking at some point…is there someone at mm that’s not an Adele fan and adding to the slander, seems lazy…..Hmmm!

I’m failing to understand why mm posted this, and why “hmmm” was their reaction… she’s 24 for Christ’s sake… did none of them have a few to many in their late teens/early 20′s????

Hmmmm, judgemental much? I’m really disappointed to see such a snarky and dismissive reaction to this. Alcoholism is a real issue and is more common than you know. Would mm be so blasé about depression or gambling or any other sickness?

I read the “Hmmmm” as more of a “Hmmm, is this true or completely made up by the author of this ‘unofficial biography’?” …. I.e. Not judgemental, but more skeptical of the source. It could have been written to intend either meaning though – I might just be projecting my own thoughts onto the MamaMia Team’s voice.

I read an interview of hers ages ago where she mentioned she had had a drinking problem. This is old news.

She’s definitely mentioned this in interviews quite a few times. And at least once on a chat show although I can’t remember which one at the moment. That’s why she’ll make comments now like “when I used to drink”.
Actually I remember one anecdote she was telling about how a big part of her relationship with THE ex revolved around alcohol and when she was drunk she’d sometimes act quite nasty to him. Big highs and lows.
So no surprise here. If this book is looking for a scandalous revelation to sell copies they’ve missed the mark completely this time.

Yup, she made a comment along those lines on the Graham Norton show as I recall
