Today, a tabloid magazine published pictures of a dead Bobbi Kristina Brown.

It’s hard to imagine a family member stooping so low. Or, is it?

UPDATE:

Today was the day that a major American magazine made the calculated decision to cause controversy, pain and suffering surrounding Bobbi Kristina‘s death.

Today was the day that the 29,400 people that Like The National Enquirer‘s Facebook page woke up to a photo of Bobbi Kristina Brown in her hospice bed, spliced with an image of her mother, Whitney Houston, in her coffin.

The National Enquirer, possibly the world’s most notorious tabloid magazine, paid a rumoured US$100,000 for the photo, which they then published on their front cover, along with a headline that says “World Exclusive – the last photo!”. A tagline next to the photos says “More chilling images inside”.

Reportedly, there are two ‘death’ photos of Bobbi that have been sold to publications – one taken at the wake, one taken when she lay in her hospice bed.

It’s a disgusting attempt at profiting off the death of a celebrity. It’s time to let her rest in peace.

Did the poor kid ever have a chance?

Considering the appalling circus that was the funeral of 22-year-old Bobbi Kristina Brown last week, the answer seems a resounding no.

Because today it emerged that someone at that funeral took a photograph of Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown’s tragic daughter, who was found unconscious in a bathtub six months ago, dead in her coffin. What’s more, they sold the sick picture for an estimated US$100,000.

If this act alone isn’t undignified and disrespectful enough, both sides of her family are blaming each other, continuing a public farce that has disgusted the world.

It shouldn’t have come as a surprise however, considering that the very same thing happened at the funeral for Whitney Houston, also found submerged in a bathtub in the Beverly Hills hotel the night before the Grammy in 2012.

Then there was Bobbi Kristina’s service at the Whigham Funeral Home in Newark. Instead of it being a tribute to a life ended way too soon, it became another opportunity for feuding relatives to publicly air their grievances.

Leolah Brown, sister of Bobbi K’s father Bobby Brown, started ranting with anger during the eulogy conducted by the dead girl’s maternal aunt, Pat Houston, resulting in her being escorted out by security.

Once again, making it all about herself and not the child being mourned, Leolah stormed out of the church and straight to the waiting media pack. “It’s just getting started,” she raved. “I told [Pat Houston] that Whitney is going to haunt her from the grave.”

It appears Leolah Brown believes Whitney’s sister-in-law and former manager is using Bobbi Kristina’s funeral to add to her personal foundation’s coffers amongst other ‘evil’ deeds.

If that wasn’t enough drama, Bobby Brown’s wife, Alicia Etheredge, who gave birth a few weeks ago, suffered a seizure at their hotel soon after the funeral. She was rushed to a local hospital but managed to walk unassisted with press cameras clicking as she arrived.

Still, as violating as the photograph (which mamamia.com refuses to publish) of post mortem Bobbi Kristina is, she is not the first celebrity to be dishonoured in such a way. River Phoenix, Heath Ledger, Michael Jackson and Marilyn Monroe were all victims of a callous cameraman. And this week it was revealed that autopsy photos of the late Kurt Cobain are also to be published.

However, in their cases, the photographer was a stranger looking for a quick buck and not, as is suspected in Bobbi Kristina’s case, a family member not only tarnishing the memory of a young girl taken too soon, but also of the late mother who loved her.

It seems to sum up everything that was wrong in Bobbi’s short life – she was a meal ticket, a side-show, a battled-over prize, NOT a young woman who needed to be loved and protected from the damaged people around her.

Rest in peace, Bobbi Kristina.
