'I'm six months pregnant and on Tinder. And my friends are not on board.'

Dating can be a nightmare at the best of times, but what about when you’re six months pregnant?

Speaking to The Edge 96.1‘s Mike E & Emma show last week, mum-to-be Cailtin decided to share her story in the “Am I A Bad Person?” segment. It centred around her decision to begin using popular dating app Tinder.

“I’ve recently been getting involved with Tinder, so I’m pretty new to the whole Tinder app. My friends have been a little judge-y – basically I’m six months pregnant,” she explained.

There was a momentary pause from the radio hosts, with Emma then blurting out: "You're six months pregnant and on Tinder?"

"Yeah, I mean, I still need love too," Caitlin replied.

When asked where the baby's father was, the expectant mother explained: "We've separated. Unfortunately it hasn't worked out... but yeah, I'm just trying to get back out there and have a bit of fun, but my friends are definitely not really on board."

Then Caitlin shared that none of her profile pictures show that she is pregnant, and it's information she chooses to withhold until the first date.

"I don't necessarily tell the guys I'm talking to that I'm pregnant, I certainly don't keep it from them, I mean, when we meet up they obviously see that I'm pregnant. They [Caitlin's friends] think that by me not telling them [the dates], I'm not a good person. I'm not keeping it from them but I'm just not declaring it when I'm talking to them," Caitlin said.

"I'm obviously doing all the right things and making sure that health is a priority but I still want to have a life."

Many callers phoned in to offer their support to the mother-to-be but there was also plenty of judgement.

One caller said Caitlin needs to wait until the baby is born to "get back out there," while another suggested the risk of contracting an STI could harm the baby.

Another said that withholding the fact that she's pregnant will not lead to love, but rather just a string of first dates. (Post continues after gallery.)

Another caller labelled Caitlin selfish, saying: "I'm actually on my way now to terminate my pregnancy at six weeks and I do have a partner but we just can't... but I'm very upset that I'm getting rid of it. And then I'm hearing about a girl that's six months pregnant not even thinking about the child whatsoever."

When radio co-host Emma asked Caitlin what her "strike rate" was since joining the dating app, the mum-to-be laughed nervously without answering.

Caitlin - you do what's right for you.
