FLUFF: Margot Robbie is a long way from Ramsay Street.

Margot Robbie

1. Margot Robbie masters the art of the little white lie.

Australian actress Margot Robbie has come a long way from her days on Ramsay Street.

The 23-year-old is currently on the press tour for her new film, The Wolf of Wall Street, a talkie directed by Martin Scorsese and starring Leonardo DiCaprio, in which Robbie has a nude scene.

Like we said; it’s a long way from Ramsay Street.

So, it’s not surprising that Robbie was a little worried about how her family in rural Queensland would react to the whole ‘nude’ thing. She said on Jimmy Kimmel Live!:

That was a small point of contention with my family. I just flat out lied to my family for a really long time. I said, ‘I don’t care what you hear, there is no nudity, I’m not doing any nudity. Ignore anything anyone’s saying, there is no nudity’.

And then I thought: ‘Well, the movie’s going to come out and they’ll see there’s nudity.’ So I changed that. The lie evolved to: ‘Well actually it’s a body double, and they just CGI-ed my head onto someone else.’

My family don’t have anything to do with the entertainment industry so they totally bought it. They were like, ‘They can do that?’ And I was like, ‘Oh, technology these days, you wouldn’t believe what they do in Hollywood.’

Alas, she did eventually have to reveal to her family that the body her head was attached to was, in fact, also hers. You can watch the first part of the interview below:

And, now that you’ve come this far. You should definitely watch the second half of the interview feat. the time Margot ate 1.8kg of spaghetti on the set of Neighbours. As you do:

2. Bravo, Mary-Kate and Ashley!

The Olsen Twins have proven that they are ahead of the fashion pack by using post-pubescent models in the Pre-fall 2014 look book for their fashion label, The Row.

The youngest of the three models is aged 39, the oldest is 65-year-old Linda Rodin.

Congratulations to Mary-Kate and Ashley for rising above an industry where 14-year-old models are more common than 34-year-old ones.

3. Dear Kelly Osbourne, if Bieber jumped off a cliff…

Some people crochet, others play squash. But, Justin Bieber? He graffitis things. (As the mayor of the Gold Coast can attest to.) And it looks like his penchant for the spray can might have rubbed off on one Kelly Osbourne:

In other Kelly Osbourne news, she has broken off her engagement with Matthew Mosshart. Which is sad news, or happy news, or a mix of both. We can’t say we’ve spoken to her personally.

4. All of the darlings of this awards season, unretouched. Beautiful.

W Magazine has released its annual Best Performances issue, which celebrates the best cinematic performances of the past year.

The photos, shot by Juergen Teller, seek to highlight performances that focus on humanity and self. The photos themselves are natural and raw, embracing the talent of each actor.

The six alternating cover stars are: Jennifer Lawrence, Amy Adams, Oprah, Lupita Nyong’o, Cate Blanchett and Matthew McConaughey. Emma Thompson, Amanda Seyfried, James Franco and Joseph Gordon-Levitt also make an appearance

Elaine and Jerry on Seinfeld.

5. You know who doesn’t think that #SeinfeldToday is very funny? Seinfeld.

It turns out that being funny when writing a show about nothing is harder than you’d think.

In a recent Q&A session with Reddit, comedian Jerry Seinfeld answered a tonne of his fans questions about himself, and the show. Here are some of his most interesting insights.

On laugh tracks:

This was something we struggled with quite often on Seinfeld. Because we had real laughs on the scenes that were shot in front of an audience, but then we would shoot other scenes that were not in front of the audience (which didn’t have any laughs) and then it felt like a bit of a mismatch, so we tried to compromise and put in a subtle laugh track. I think that one of the fun things of a sitcom is feeling like you’re in an audience even though you’re home, watching it by yourself. I have to say I like some sitcoms with them and some without. Depends on the show.

On counselling the hecklers in his stand-up shows:

Very early on in my career, I hit upon this idea of being the Heckle Therapist. So that when people would say something nasty, I would immediately become very sympathetic to them and try to help them with their problem and try to work out what was upsetting them, and try to be very understanding with their anger. It opened up this whole fun avenue for me as a comedian, and no one had ever seen that before. Some of my comedian friends used to call me – what did they say? – that I would counsel the heckler instead of fighting them.

Instead of fighting them, I would say “You seem so upset, and I know that’s not what you wanted to have happen tonight. Let’s talk about your problem” and the audience would find it funny and it would really discombobulate the heckler too, because I wouldn’t go against them, I would take their side.

On the #SeinfeldToday Twitter trend:

Oh this is a very painful subject. As you can probably imagine, over the 9 years of doing the show, Larry David and I sat through hundreds of ideas that people wanted to do on the show. And most of the ideas are not good. Which I saw Larry say the other day on some show, somebody asked him the same question and he said, “I know you think it’s funny, but it’s really hard.”

The ideas that Larry and I would respond to, I don’t even know, they just need to be very unique. It’s just a lot harder than it seems to come up with. And particularly for that show, where we tried to do things that were unusual, and you had to go through a lot of ideas to find the ones you like.

Which is basically just a really longwinded way of saying that there is a reason why Seinfeld is a millionaire, and you are not.

6. Gwyneth Paltrow’s kids opened a lemonade stand. And it is everything you have ever imagined.

We have five responses:

1. Of course your lemonade is organic. What kid sells repackaged Solo on the street?

2. Surely lemonade with no sugar added is just lemon water. Possibly lemon juice in – gasp – mineral water.

3. The ‘chocolate-esque’ brown pencil job on that cookie illustration is almost definitely deceptive. Our money’s on kale and bran.

4. High quality illustrative work on the cup, though. Those kids have solid skills.

5. A small lemonade and a cookie for $1.50, you say? That’s 25% off… We need to get us some of that.

7. Amy Poehler and Tina Fey give an interview. And we’re all left scratching our heads.

If you’re the sort of person who places Amy Poehler and Tina Fey in the same ‘awesome feminist-y people who make funny jokes and host awards shows’ mental basket, this interview might be a little bit jarring.

The pair were both interviewed by The Hollywood Reporter in the lead up to the Golden Globes (which they will be hosting for another year) and, needless to say, one of them woke up on the wrong side of the bed that morning.  Take a squiz at this snippet and see if you can guess who:

Q: A challenge: $1,000 if both of you wear Amy Adams’ plunging blouse thing from American Hustle.

Fey: First of all, if you think my going rate for anything is $1,000 you are looking at an old catalog. I get at least $12,000 to dress up in sexual costumes for people. I would wear that for free. You would not have to pay me to wear that.

Poehler: Oh eww, I don’t want to even answer this question. Pass. Next.

The rest of the interview is just as bad:

Q: After a lot of public criticism, SNL is adding an African-American women to the cast. Do you think that criticism was warranted?

Fey: I think Kerry Washington did such a great job on the [Nov. 2] show [in a sketch that addressed the controversy]. And you saw how great it was for Jay Pharoah to have someone playing Michelle Obama opposite [his President Obama]. So I feel like they registered that really quickly and they’ve acted on it really quickly.

Poehler: Ugh, I don’t want to talk about this. Pass.

Luckily, Poehler got over her bad mood in time to have a nice talk about mature women kicking ass in Hollywood:

Does this signify some sort of shift in power in Hollywood? Should younger actresses start complaining about ageism in Hollywood?

Fey: That’s a good idea. We’ll write some jokes about that for the thing. I think you’re going to see a lot of gowns with sleeves — cap sleeves, ballerina sleeves.

Poehler: If anything I think it’s proof of the longevity and versatility of women. Isn’t 40 the new 30 and 80 is the new 20? I think a lesson is: If you’ve got it when you’re young, you’ll keep it when you’re older. But it’s a good area to make jokes about, so thank you for that idea.

Phew. That’s better.

8. We don’t care that this is a set-up: Sofia Vergara is amazing.

9. The People’s Choice Awards brought all of the pretty dresses.

In case you missed it yesterday, here’s our pick of the People’s Choice Award Red Carpet.

Who was your favourite?

10. Nicole Kidman for Jimmy Choo. Maybe. We can’t really tell if it’s her.
