Charlotte Dawson, 47, television personality, writer and former judge of Australia’s Next Top Model has been found dead in her Sydney home.

Over recent years Dawson has struggled through a long and very public battle with depression. It is understood that her body was found by a security guard and police have confirmed that there were no suspicious circumstances involved in the death.

Born in New Zealand, Dawson moved to Australia in her 20s, where she became beauty and fashion director for Woman’s Day magazine and later style director at New Idea.

The former model has starred on many Australian television shows including Beauty and the Beast, Getaway, Good Morning Australia and Burke’s Backyard.

In 2012, Dawson made headlines across the country after she was admitted to St Vincents Hospital in Sydney following a suicide attempt. Dawson had been emotionally and mentally shocked by extensive trolling and cyber bullying that she had experienced on Twitter; including a barrage of messages prompting the outspoken celebrity to take her own life.

Following the incident in 2012, Dawson committed herself to an anti- cyber bullying campaign where she called on governments, doctors and the community to take stronger action to prevent cyber bullying.

Mamamia’s publisher Mia Freedman conducted this candid interview with Ms Dawson in 2011, which provides a beautiful insight into her personal and professional life.
