Calvin Harris has tweeted about his split with Taylor Swift.

It’s been a day of silence since the news broke that Taylor Swift and Calvin Harris had ended their 15-month romance.

Now Harris has tweeted to confirm the breakup in what is possibly the most dignified celebrity break up announcement since Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin “consciously uncoupled”.

The 32-year-old DJ took to Twitter this morning, sharing with his 7.5million followers a statement about the break up, writing: “The only truth here is that a relationship came to an end & [sic] what remains is a huge amount of love and respect.”

Swift, 26, re-tweeted Harris’s tweet just minutes later, putting this breakup firmly in “amicable” territory.

People Magazine yesterday confirmed the pair, who celebrated their one-year anniversary on the third of March with a romantic tropical getaway, had parted ways.

"There was no drama. Things just don't work out sometimes," a source told People.

True that.

"I'm just taking things as they come," Swift told Vogue in an interview earlier this year.

"I'm in a magical relationship right now. And of course I want it to be ours, and low-key… this is the one thing that's been mine about my personal life."

Swift and Harris have kept their relationship fairly private (in celebrity terms, that is), you won't find thousands of pictures of them together on social media.

Harris last appeared on Swift's Instagram account when the Shake It Off  singer posted a video of his set at Coachella.
