When you turn away from your toddler for 10 seconds, only to look back and see this.

Damien Murphy and his two sons were at a Jump ‘n’ Gyms play centre in Nenagh in Ireland when his youngest managed to make his way into a toy claw machine. Every little person’s dream, right?

Three-year-old Jamie Bracken-Murphy wandered away from his father and five-year-old brother Shane before climbing into the cage of stuffed toys.

“We had been at the play centre about an hour at that stage. I had the boys to myself as my partner Carolyn was visiting her sister,” Jamie’s father Damien told Mamamia.

“I was going to go to a local playground, but due to some sudden nasty weather we settled for the nearby play centre.”

"We we’re all sitting at a table in the play centre. I was sipping a coffee as the two boys had their snacks," Damien continued. "Jamie got up and sauntered off to my left towards the amusements. I thought nothing of it as there’s nothing I would be usually worried about over there."

"Between five to 10 seconds later, I heard a little muffled complaint, and Shane and I looked up to see Jamie behind the glass," Damien continued. "'Of course you’re behind there!' was my first reaction."

Was there a particular toy that caught Jamie's eye? His father says no, it was more the adventure of it all.

"He wasn’t initially interested in any particular toy from what I can tell," Damien said. "He was just curious to see if he could get in through the flap. To describe him as curious would be an understatement!"

The three-year-old was initially concerned at the situation he found himself in, but his worry soon gave way to the excitement of it all.

"At first, at least for a few seconds, he was worried. I smiled and told him we would get him out in a minute and he started laughing, at which point Shane joined in laughing," Damien said. "It was very funny to the both of them."

"Jamie just kept fairly still inside the machine looking out at the rest of use in amusement. When I came back from informing the staff of what happened he had chosen the two plush toys."

Jamie was stuck inside the machine for around 10 minutes, as long as it took the play centre staff to find the keys to open the machine. An off-duty fireman also reportedly helped the three-year old escape.

Jamie was permitted to keep his two chosen dragon toys, and Damien said the three-year-old wanted to try the whole thing again as soon as he was freed.

"He asked if he could go back in! Shane wanted to try too," Damien said. "I had to have a serious conversation in the car ride home on why we can’t climb into things…. Of course, this was not the first time we’ve talked about these things!"

"For a three-year-old, Jamie is a very sharp kid. However, with that sharpness comes a lot of mischief! He’s definitely a boundary pusher. My partner and I do try to nurture the crazy in a positive way."
