The moment dubbed the 'biggest meltdown in reality TV history'.

Oh dear.

When you sit down to watch a show where contestants bake banoffee pie and sweet caramel tarts (while donning elaborate blonde braids, no less) the possibilities of ‘reality TV’s biggest ever meltdown’ look slim.

But for Ali King, a contestant on Channel 7’s latest primetime instalment, Zumbo’s Just Desserts, that’s precisely what happened.

The promotional footage for Monday night’s episode shows a distressed King crying over a raspberry-coloured concoction: “it’s not going to happen, it’s not going to happen.”

Soon after, the 28-year-old insurance broker – the overwhelming favourite to win the breakout season – falls to the floor.

Speaking to news.com.au, the baking enthusiast says her on-air meltdown will be difficult to relive in front of a national audience.

“It was a really, really bad day,” she told the publication. “It wasn’t pretty, was it?”

“I got all my timings wrong and I knew it early on."

While the majority of contestants rushed to Ali's aid, rival Daniel Treacey looked on ecstatically, cheering to the camera “Ali’s gone."

Whether the stumble will spell the end of her tenure on the show, we will have to wait and see.
