Drum roll, please: The next Allen's lolly has finally been announced.

After a thankless election campaign, Allen’s has announced a new lolly will be hitting supermarket shelves in March.

Choc & Cream defeated its opponents in a landslide, taking out a whopping 46% of the popular vote in the recent ‘remix’ competition, which put a modern twist on old faves.

In a respectable second place Funny Teeth garnered 40% of the 20,000 ballots cast, but the progressive flavour of the Ginger Cats proved too 'out there' for some more conservative Aussies.

Citizens were won over by the dependable charm of Choc & Cream's soft dollop of chocolate flavoured jelly on top of a creamy vanilla flavoured base.

Its unique chocolate, which isn't unlike that of the humble Allen's Chicos, captured those fed up with the establishment.

“A twist on the classic Strawberries & Cream, the Choc & Cream has stolen the hearts of chocoholic lolly-lovers across the nation," Nestlé General Manager Martin Brown declared in a statement.

"It’s the perfect lolly for those fans who love both lollies and chocolate.”

Choc & Cream was among the favourite limited edition lollies featured at Australia’s first-ever Allen's pop up store, which ran for four weeks in Sydney before Christmas.

The real test will be seeing how they stack up when they land in Woolworths late next month.
