The before and after photos that show the devastation of war in Aleppo.

Civilians are fleeing the city of Aleppo in Syria in the Middle East; a city that four years ago was their home, their children’s home.

It’s hard to believe it had libraries and parks and schools and small shops that sold local goods. It was historical. Beautiful, even.

Now it is dusty and destroyed, scattered with the consequences of incessant bombing. Broken after four years of being “ground zero” in the fight between the rebels and pro-government forces.

There is long list of things the war in Syria has caused.

The UN estimates 400,000 people have lost their lives during the five year conflict. There are also the homes that have been destroyed, the families that have been broken, the communities that have been eviscerated, the businesses and the futures that have been guttered.

The city of Aleppo is another casualty. Here is how it’s been destroyed, in photographs.
